Chapter Thirteen: Friendship Group!!!

I enjoyed sunbathing all afternoon. It was a much-needed day after all the craziness from the weekend. Christmas was drawing nearer though, and it lingered in my mind how I was going to spend it. I knew the girls had plans with their families. I, on the other hand, did not have that luxury.

"Look May," Kaida said with a smirk on her face attempting to draw me into a trap.

"It's your boyfriend!" She gestured towards the shore where Hyunjin was walking back from his swim, shirtless and looking a little too good. According to Kaida and Vera, he was already my boyfriend. I couldn't help but stare a few more sinful seconds.

I rolled my eyes in response and began packing my towel, throwing a shirt over my bikini.

"Leaving so soon," Hyunjin looms over me, "the guys are about to start a fire so we can dry off then hit the road".

"Sounds good, we'll pack up and join you over there," Kaida replies abruptly before I even get a word out.

The girls and I sat down around the fire in some folded chairs that the guys put together. Finally, I could see how many of us there were. Felix, Chris, and Vera sat on my right, and left was Kaida, Hyunjin, and Han, I think that's what his name was from what Kaida told me. Chris walked over and offered us each an apple cider of which we gladly accepted and sipped slowly except Vera. She had a screwed-up face in discomfort.

"Do you have any..." Vera began, "girl drinks?"

Kaida and I were about to swallow our first sip but ended up spluttering our drinks out into the sand in a very ugly way. We quickly refrained from bursting out further into laughter and embarrassing our princess-like best friend.

"Girl drinks?" Chris asks her with his eyebrow cocked.

Vera blushed in embarrassment, "you know...drinks that don't taste like acid or drain water".

"Sorry princess," Chris replied, "we've got nothing of the sort". He smiles awkwardly and walks back to place the small esky down.

"How do you know what drain water tastes like?" Han call from the other end, a smile playing on his lips. "I guess you're just not as tough as us," Han teases leaning back in his seat and taking a large sip of his beer.

"Whoa, I never said I wasn't tough!" her hands were in the air now making dramatic movements. She gets that from Kaida. "I just wondered if you had anything classier to offer a young girl".

"Sorry we can't please you with your preferred drinks sweat heart," Hyunjin teases beside me and I can't help but scowl him with a mean look. He was being awfully flirty and annoying tonight. Was this really his true colours? A side of him I never got to see before.

"Leave her alone Hyunjin," I suddenly had the urge to stand up against him and before I could stop myself the words leave my mouth, "you don't know the first thing about how to please a girl in the first place."

Despite the creeping dense atmosphere I almost created, my unexpected words earned whistles from Felix, and Chris while Hyunjin's face changes into a mix of surprise and annoyance at my sudden statement. "You would know right May? Nobody can please you."

Suddenly I felt my face flush a bright red from embarrassment. He's talking about me avoiding his texts and dashing out on our Sunday meetup. I had my reasons.

"Cool off you guys," Kaida inserts. "I guess the ocean didn't wash away your bad mouth."

"Touché" Hyunjin smirks over at Kaida.
