I closed my eyes and, as tears silently streamed down my cheeks, pictured her walking down the stairs towards me last night. Her eyes were bright in anticipation, and her cheeks were flushed. Her white dress shone in the moonlight and outlined her slim figure. Her golden hair glittered as it framed her pale ivory face, like a halo. In the gentle breeze, her shimmering skirt fluttered like petals in their shining glory. Her pearl necklace was the perfect addition to her gorgeous ensemble, and her delicate silver heels gave her a graceful elegance. As she glided down the steps, with her chin raised and a lovely smile on her face, I could only gape. She looked more perfect than an angel.
As I jolted back to reality, I found my body shaking and my fists clenched as sobs fought their way out of my weakened body. Oh, how did it go so wrong? My sobs turned to screams as I pictured her lying there, matted hair framing her dull eyes, white dress ripped and covered in blood, pale ivory skin covered in bruises and cuts. Her right arm was twisted at a hideous angle and her left ankle was so ghastly, a gag interrupted my hysteria. I remembered the deep gash on her forehead and collapsed, shaking in anguish. How did this happen? I asked myself once more, as my hysterical screams grew so loud that my voice began to weaken.
"Why her?" I screamed, "Why me?" I lay on my back and gripped my hair in agony, my body shaking and my screams gradually weakening to sobs as I cradled my broken soul. She was the bane of my whole existence. How was I meant to survive when she had left me for good?
