I'm back!!!

This is my first story, and I'm still new to this, so please let me know if I make any mistakes.

I will also accept character and story suggestions, so let me know if you have any.

Luke and I walked for hours, until we came across a town. It was a cute rural town, with a few small cottages, and a couple of stores. Before we reached the first building, Luke reached into his wallet and pulled out some brown contact lenses. I raised an eyebrow as he placed them in his eyes.

"It prevents suspicion," he answered, "Keeping the hunters off my tail."

I nodded, realising I hadn't thought to do that. That must've been why I constantly had hunters following me.

We walked into the town hand in hand, and he paused to look at me, before we entered the local motel.

"Your eyes look nice." He commented, making me blush.

"Thank you." I replied with a smile.

When we entered the motel, I glanced at the mirror above the reception desk. My eyes were a vibrant gold. Did they change colour? It certainly seemed like it.

We booked a room with two single beds, and put our stuff down. It felt really nice to relax, properly, for the first time in decades. I got my purse out of my bag and looked through it. There was sufficient money, so I decided to buy some clothes tomorrow.

"How long do you want to stay here?" Luke brought me out of my thoughts with that question.

"Um... I dunno. I think about a week?"

He lay down on his bed and stared at the roof.

"What are you planning to do here?"

"I need to buy some clothes and stuff. I also want to rest for a while. It's been about a decade since I last slept in a bed!"

Luke sat up and looked at me. "What were you doing wandering in the forest alone?"

"I dunno. I was just... wandering. What about you?"

Luke hesitated, uncertainty clear on his face. "Do you believe in soul mates?"

I was unsure what to say. I swallowed, suddenly nervous. "You're my mate, aren't you?"

He nodded. "I felt a pull, so I was following your scent." He paused, and then rushed into the next sentence. "Not in a creepy way or anything, I just felt this strange pull, and followed it. When I found you, I knew you were mine."

I smiled. "That was why I changed. There was a rumour that demons find their actual body when they find their mate. I hadn't believed it until it happened."

He smiled at me, causing me to grin in response. Then a thought crossed my mind, and my grin lessened.

"Even though we're mates, I'm not gonna act like we're engaged, or even dating. You're gonna have to win me over first."

"I can manage that." He said with a smirk.

"Luke, what about this one?"

I exited the change room, wearing a black sundress with red ribbon framing the neckline. Luke looked stunned.

"You look amazing!" He remarked.

I placed it on the pile of clothes to get, and walked to the cash register.

"That will be $467."

The cashier sneered at me as I got the money out of my wallet. I knew her type, the ones who resent anyone who doesn't dress like her, style their hair like her, heck, even live like her! I glared at her, and smirked when she took a step back, crashing into a display stand.

"Come on, Monica, let's go." Luke stood by the door, carrying bags from previous stores, not that there were many. Sighing, I followed him out of the shop.

"Wow Monica! Your eyes are red!"

Puzzled, I grabbed a pocket mirror out of one of the shopping bags, and stared at my reflection. He was right, my eyes were blood red, but were gradually changing to a lime green colour. Do my eyes reflect my mood? Maybe that was why the cashier looked so afraid of me?

I glanced up at Luke and smiled. He was so sweet to me, holding my bags and waiting for me, always listening to what I said, and often I would look up to find him smiling at me. If this was his way of winning me over, he was doing a good job of it.

I took his hand, and we walked into the sunset, and we lived happily ever after.

Just kidding! We walked into a cafe and sat at a table outside.

"What do we do now, Luke?"

"We need to keep hunters off our tails. We also need a supply of food, and I would like you to meet my friends. Is that okay?"

I smiled warmly, and gently squeezed his hand. "Of course."
