I walked into the room with my head hung, as it had been since the day she died. I shut the door behind me and then realised I was squinting. I glanced up slowly, and then collapsed against the door in shock as my gaze fell upon the thing that was lighting up my room.

After waiting for my sight to return, having been temporarily blinded by the bright light, I caught a glimpse of the thing in my room. Engulfed in a ball of flames, a being balanced on the edge of my bed. Gradually, the flames diminished until I could mostly see a lady standing on my bed. Her hair shone like golden fire and she was glowing like an angel. That's when I saw her wings. She was being lifted off the edge of my bed by an unfolding pair of pure white, brilliantly beautiful, feathered wings. I froze, shocked, as I came to the realisation that there was an angel in my room.

The wings kept unfolding until the tips touched either end of my room. Her dress shone like moonlight as it wrapped around her stunning form. The skirt fluttered from the gentle breeze her wings created. She was barefoot, and around her pale, left ankle was a white-gold chain. Her gold hair fell in waves against her glowing, white face. I gasped as I glanced at her perfect face. Her smile was enough to stop my heart and her teeth were as white as the whitest pearls. Her lashes were long and shimmered like silver. Every proportion was perfect, but it was the eyes that made me shake as memories threatened to resurface, memories that I had pushed into the shadows of my mind months ago. Her eyes shone like melted amber, cutting a knife into my damaged heart, strongly resembling the eyes that haunted my every moment.

She then opened her mouth, and her voice gracefully formed one word.

"Charles." She uttered, her silken voice melting my heart. I stiffened, and a tear tumbled down my cheek; the only tangible evidence of the turmoil inside me. How did she know my name?

"Charlie," She uttered, and my heart skipped a beat as more memories resurfaced. "Be strong."

She floated to the floor and then glided towards me, having folded her wings behind her. When she reached me, she gracefully knelt before my crouching figure and gently lifted my chin with her hand so that I was looking into her eyes. Once more my heart cracked, and tears overflowed as she reminded me of the girl who had left me.

"Be strong, Charlie." She uttered again, "Be a warrior, like your name." Her voice was so beautiful, I was sure it could melt gold.

I looked into her eyes again and saw... love? Only one person had ever looked at me that way, and I saw her die. Then it clicked, and I shut my eyes tight and rocked back against the door. After a moment, I opened them wide and leant towards her.

"Rebecca?" I asked, my voice raspy in comparison to hers.

She nodded once and lifted me into her arms, something only an angel's strength could achieve so easily, placing me gently on my bed, and knelt next to me.

"You're an... angel?" I asked. She nodded again. The tears flowed once more.

"Let me explain." She whispered.
