I opened my eyes slowly and blinked multiple times, trying to clear my eyes of excess moisture. The ceiling I was staring at was silver, with elegant arches supporting it. The walls were the colour of cream, with brown borders. There were large arched windows that refracted the sunlight into faint rainbows. All in all, the room had a beautiful woodland feel.
I was alerted to another presence entering the room by the sound of muffled footsteps. The door slid open and I saw a thin, pale girl with sharp features and dark brown hair enter my room. When she saw me looking at her she bowed and left the room, after telling me she would inform the queen that I was awake.
Puzzled, I got out of the comfortable double bed and found some clothes laid out for me. I dressed quickly into the green pants and cream shirt, doing the buckle on the brown belt and tying the laces on the brown boots. At a knock on the door, I opened it to reveal a stunning woman with white skin and very sharp features, who seemed to radiate power and importance. Her pale blonde hair shone like silk as it fell down to her thin waist. Her dress looked like melted silver and her tiny feet were enclosed in delicate silver flats. On her head was an intricate silver circlet, decorated with metal leaves. She looked like a ... queen? I figured it was wise to bow.
"Please rise, Charles. I may be a queen, but I wish you to treat me like an equal."
"Yes your majesty." I responded.
With that she walked towards me and sat on the bed. To be polite, I sat beside her.
"Call me Brielle please. And may I call you Charlie?""Yes, you may." I nodded.
"Charlie, you don't need to be formal, I would like to be friends, not acquaintances." She sighed, "I'm not that much older than you. I'm only 20."
She got up and walked to the door, turning back to ask me, "Are you coming?"
I quickly stood up and followed her.

"Charlie! You've met Brielle?" Rebecca came bouncing outside onto the balcony to join us.
She then turned to Brielle and whispered "Have you told him yet?" Brielle shook her head.
"Tell me what?" I demanded.
"I'm an elf, Charlie." Brielle said, so softly it was almost inaudible.
"Say what now?"
"I'm an elf, Charlie." She repeated.
I quickly closed my mouth, realising it was open from shock.
"I think you're taking this quite well!" Bec announced cheerfully. She playfully sat on my lap and kissed my cheek. I growled.
"Get off me Rebecca." I warned. She just wrapped her arms around me and leant her head on my chest.
"REBECCA!" I shouted, "GET OFF ME!"
She jumped off me and backed away. "What, Charlie? What's wrong?"
I growled, and she jumped. "What's wrong? WHAT'S WRONG?" I asked her.
She gulped as she nodded in reply.
"YOU MAKE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU, MAKE ME BELIEVE YOU'VE DIED, DON'T BOTHER TO LET ME KNOW YOU'RE ALIVE, COME BACK, AND WANT TO KNOW WHAT'S WRONG? I'LL TELL YOU WHAT'S WRONG. I HATE YOU."
I slammed the door and stormed off to my room.
