CHAPTER ONE : WAILS IN THE WINTER WIND
The innocence of white could always be tainted.
A lone girl - who was no older than five - stood at the large, looming window. It's rim straight and sharp before arching to join its other side. It stood taller than anyone she'd ever met – that included her cousin, and he was pretty tall. The morning sun shined through, lighting up the gentle dust that lined the tables.
White cloth hung over the abandoned furniture of the backroom. Large and specious but abandoned and unused. Oak wooden floorboards held memories of past families and had seen many unspeakable acts.
Blue hair shone in the reflection of the crystal window, her breath steaming it up as she stared outside. The snow had started to fall on her special day. Her extraordinary, crystal-like blue eyes glistened with undisturbed joy as she watched the white fall from the heavens. She wondered if one day, she'd be able to see where snow comes from.
"You look nervous." A kind yet humorous voice observed. The little girl turned to see her older sister shutting the door to the backroom. Kasume Koritsu smiled gently as she approached her. "What's up?"
Kasume was the oldest of the Koristu siblings. Her roots had an unusual white colour that slowly shifted into blue, the ends curling outwards. She had a beauty mark just below her left eye. Four out of the five siblings had the same matching deep, teal-coloured eyes. Even though they all looked different, it was easy to tell that they were siblings.
The Koristu siblings had five years between them all. Kasume, and her twin brother Hibiki, were fifteen. Isamu and Osamu (who were also twins) were ten and Kaori was five.
Kaori crawled off the sofa window and faced her sister. Her eyes quickly cascaded downwards her natural shyness coming out. Kasume felt a fond smile form on her face as she walked towards her youngest sibling.
She played with the hem of her white silk and satin dress nervously. "What if I'm not as special as people think I am?" She asked quietly with a hint of fear in her voice.
"Oh Kaori." Kasume sighed deeply, kneeling in front of her. With the upmost care, she grabbed Kaori's cheeks and lifted her head. Kaori's eyes shone with insecurity and worry all while her sister was confident and kind. "You are the daughter of Sakiko and Haru Koritsu, chosen heir to the Gojo clan after Satoru and my favourite sister."
"I'm your only sister." Kaori cut in, a small giggle in her voice.
"Even if you don't end up developing Six-Eyes, your Curse Potential is greater than anyone in this family." Kasume explained with soft eyes. "You're amazing Kaori. I wish you could see yourself the way I do."
An adoring smile formed on Kaori's lips, a slight blush forming on her cheeks at the compliments. It was no secret that Kaori felt incredibly insecure, especially when being compared to their cousin (or anyone from the Gojo clan). Even so, the Koritsu siblings tried to lift each other up.
