CHAPTER EIGHT : TROUBLES AT MIDNIGHT

Sukuna loved to annoy Itadori when he was about to go to sleep.

Usually the curse kept to himself, only really speaking up to berate the teen when he did something stupid (which was fairly often) and to make a situation he was in even more awkward. But when the clock stuck 10pm, Sukuna was up and talking Itadori's brain off about all the things he could have done differently. It was never constructive, only criticism. Like when you go to sleep and suddenly remember something embarrassing from years ago. It was that, but every night.

Luckily for Itadori, he had a personal invitation from Kaori to use her Echo Room whenever he wanted. So now, at five minutes to midnight, he was dragging his feet over.

"And don't even get me started on your technique, brat. You'll never amount to anything with that basic cursed energy knowledge." Sukuna expressed in Itadori's head.

Itadori's hands were clenched and his jaw was tight but he never said anything back to Sukuna. He'd been living with Sukuna in his body for about 3 months now, so he knew better at this point. He just let out a deep sigh and carried on towards the Echo Room.

When he reached it, he immediately pushed the door open and closed it as quickly as he could. A deep sigh of relief escaped his body as he rested against the door. Suddenly, there was much needed peace in his head.

"Rough night?" A voice called out.

Itadori's eyes were open in a flash, and he looked over to the source of the sound. Kaori was sat in the middle of the room, her bangs messy and a pack of cards scattered in front of her. Itadori was about smile at her when he noticed the black markings up her arms and over her face.

This wasn't Kaori. It was Neyomi.

Itadori had never seen Neyomi out before, she didn't even but into conversations like Sukuna did either, so this was essentially the first time he'd met her. It was safe to say that Itadori had been put on edge because of this.

"I didn't know you were here." Itadori admitted, still resting against the door. He motioned his thumb to it as he continued, "I can –"

"- Leave?" Neyomi finished, placing a few cards down. "Do you really want to do that? There's a reason you're in here in the first place."

Staring was the only thing Itadori could do. He truly was stumped on what he was supposed to do. His hands clenched and unclenched to try and sooth himself. "Gojo told me never to let Sukuna out when you're around." He informed the curse.

"Don't worry, Sukuna is supressed in here." Neyomi chuckled slightly. Of course Gojo had told Itadori that, he relayed the same information to Kaori too.

"How can you be sure?" Itadori asked in confusion.

Neyomi looked up at him for the first time since he had walked into the room and smiled. But it wasn't a soft smile that usually graced Kaori's lips. It was a knowing smile, the kind of smile that a person would give when they knew more information than you. It weirdly made Itadori calm.
