My own version of Merder's fanfic story.
PS. This is my first time writing a story and I'm not really good in medical terms. Thank you and I hope you like it.
Derek starts his day as a routine, he has no social life because he spent his free time with his daughter. Derek and Addison divorced 2 years ago because she slept with a coworker. Their daughter Crystal stayed with Derek and sometimes Addison get her for the weekends. Derek's mother and sister always convinced him to get on a date, but he always refused to date someone. One morning Derek received a phone call from the school of her daughter.
"Dr. Shephered"
"Good afternoon Dr. Shephered, this is Mary Carson the school head and I'm calling to inform you that Crystal is in the clinic and experiencing chest pain, upper abdominal pain, heartburn, and vomiting.
"Ok, I'll be there. Thanks"
Derek contacts her mother and Addison to notify them that her daughter has Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) and that the doctor wants to operate on her as soon as possible. Addison recommended getting a consultation with the renowned Ellis Grey, but she rejected it since she has a lot of consults set up, and being a hospital chief is already stressful. She recommends her daughter Dr. Meredith Grey to do it. After that all of Derek's sisters, Mark and Lexie visited them in the hospital.
"Derek who is gonna be the surgeon in her case. I want the best for her" Nancy asked him
"Well, we do get a consult from Elis Grey, but she refused it but instead she recommends her daughter."
"Well, she's good, better than her mother," Amelia said
"Yes, she is the best on our field" Lizzie added
"So have you contacted her yet?" Carolyn asked
"Not yet mom but I was hoping that maybe Lexie, you can convince her to do it," Derek said
"She doesn't do a consult and an operation that requires her to fly unless it is inoperable."
"I'll see what I can do. I'll give you her answer tomorrow."
Meredith agreed to operate on Crystal after consulting with her mother and Lexie. Ellis allowed her a one-week vacation right after surgery to encourage her to explore New York. Meredith's siblings and Thatcher all agreed to Ellis' idea so she could take a break from work.
Since she broke up with her first boyfriend during her internship, she has never opened herself up to love again but rather she chose to focus on her job.
"Hello, Lexie. My plane just landed and I'm in the baggage claim"
"Hey Mer, I'll see you outside the airport," she said excitedly
Lexie eventually noticed Meredith approaching her after several minutes of waiting and instantly embraced her. Meredith is staying at Lexie's apartment for the whole week. They spent the whole day catching up on each other's life. Meredith settled into her apartment and prepared for the procedure the next day. Meredith used a group chat to update her entire family.
"I just got settled in Lexie's apartment. I will be meeting the patient and her family tomorrow." she sends it while thinking about tomorrow.
"Happy to hear that you landed safely. Good luck honey." Ellis replied
"Good luck stinky 😜" replied his one and only brother
"I'll see you tomorrow Mer! Sorry I'm not there to pick you up earlier, I got stuck in the O.R. all day," said Maddison
"It's okay Maddy! See you tomorrow," she replied happily.
"Hey, honey! Enjoy your stay in New York" said thatcher
"I will dad"
