Meredith woke up feeling confident and prepared for the big day. The procedure is easy and routine for her, but she can't help but be nervous about it. After an hour, she eventually went to the hospital (Mount Sinai Hospital). Maddy, her sister, met her in the lobby, Amelia at her side.
"Are you ready sis?" said Maddy
"Hell yeah!" she said confidently
"Ohhh Hi Meredith. I'm Amelia Shepherd, Maddy's best friend, and Derek Shepherd's sister," she said while shaking her hand
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Shepherd" she added with a smile on her face
"Pls. call me Amy"
"Ok"
The three surgeons headed to the patient room and Meredith finally meet the whole Shepherd clan. They introduce themselves to each other and she immediately explained to them her plan. The moment she enters the room she can help but be lost in the ocean blue eyes of Derek Shepherd. They both felt a connection to each other and she felt her chest tighten. The moment stop when Derek mentioned to her that they tried drug therapy for her but the symptoms did not improve so the better option is surgery.
"I rarely consider surgery as a treatment for pediatric GERD. I generally reserve it for treating cases in which I can cause serious complications, such as esophageal bleeding or ulcers," she said
"But do you consider operating on her," Addison said
"Her case is severe, chronic esophageal reflux needs surgery to correct the problem if their symptoms are not relieved through other medical treatments. If she left untreated, chronic gastroesophageal reflux can cause complications such as esophagitis, esophageal ulcers, bleeding, or scarring of the esophagus". she added
"Ok so please tell me you are going to operate on her today," Derek said
"Yes, the goal of surgery for reflux disease is to strengthen the anti-reflux barrier. During a procedure known as a Nissen fundoplication, I'm going to wraps the upper part of her stomach around the lower esophagus. This enhances the anti-reflux barrier and can provide permanent relief from reflux. I'm going to perform this surgery laparoscopically, which means a less invasive procedure with a shorter recovery time." she explained
"Thank you, Dr. Grey," he said and smiled at her
"Ok, I'll see you, Crystal, in an hour" she smiled and leave the room

All of the people in the room felt the connection between the two but anyone of them mentioned it. Carolyn and her daughters saw the sparkle in Derek's eye which is not been there a long time ago. She's hopeful that Meredith is the answer to her prayers. They all go to the cafeteria except for Derek and Addison while waiting for Crystal's operation.
"Did you guys saw the thing that I saw earlier?" said Kathleen
"Yes, his eyes have sparks again" replied Nancy
"And they can't stop staring at each other" Lizzie said
"Girls don't let your brother hear you and don't jinx it. I just hope that girl will be the answer to our prayer." Carolyn said happily
"So Lexie and Maddy can you tell us something about Meredith," said Nancy
"Yes tell us something about Big Grey" Mark added
"Big Grey?" said everyone confusedly
"Big Grey is Meredith and Little Grey is Maddy"
"Whatever," said Amy
"Ahhmm Meredith is the most passionate in medicine among the siblings. Growing up she always copies my Mom doing surgery to her doll Anatomy Jane. She always sneaks up in the gallery to watch cool surgeries and she always saves me from everything especially when I'm in trouble with my parents. She's been single since her internship and after that surgery becomes her life. " Maddy said
"WHY?!" Kathleen ask
"Well let just say that she doesn't want to experience it anymore. Her breakup is not good and my parents made her admitted to the hospital for days after the break-up. She stops going out with her friends or goes on vacation, that is why my mom granted her a 1-week leave so she can enjoy New York" she added
"I really think she will be perfect for Derek," Lizzie grinned
"We can invite her to the girl's night out on Friday," Amy said
"That would be great," Lexie said

The gallery is full of Doctors that will be watching her. They are all excited to see her in action even though it is a simple procedure. Meredith finally enters the O.R. with a purple butterfly scrub cap in her head. She confidently and politely greeted everyone inside the room. The surgery ends after 2 hours. Everyone in the room was in awe of her technique and handling style. After the surgery she let the resident close it up for her and immediately left the room to update the patient's family.
"How was the surgery?" Addison said
"The surgery went well and you will be expecting a short and smooth recovery" she replied
"Thank you so much, Dr. Grey," said Derek and embrace her
They all thank her and after that, she received a text message that says the Chief of Surgery is asking to see her in his office.
