Unexpected Love

Chapter 6

Lexie is the first to know about Meredith's plans to relocate to New York. She think it's great that she's finally doing something for herself. Growing up, she and Meredith were very close and shared many secrets.

"Mer how do you want to tell them your plan? 

"I think I'm just gonna tell them all of my plans in our group chat"

"Good luck with that and I'm sure they will flood you with messages and call or worst they all going to New York"

"I don't know but I think it is for the better," 

After her conversation with Lexie, she immediately tells her family about her decision to move to New York. She leaves a message in their group chat so that she does not need to repeat everything to everyone. 

🔵Good Morning! I have some announcements to make. I've decided to move to New York for good and I'm doing a fellowship in Neurology in Mount Sinai. Well, I haven't talked to Uncle Richard about it but I just want all of you to know. 

🔵Why? What is going on? replied Ellis feeling shocked and worried about her sudden decision

🔵Mom I think I need to do something for myself. I mean I let my emotion and past dictate me. I don't want to live my life in pain. I want to have a life and be free from everything. 

🔵"Are you sure about that?" replied Maggie 

🔵"Okay, stinky. I'm thrilled for you, especially now that you're so near to us." said Michael

🔵"That is good that you're finally doing a fellowship in Neuro," said Melly

🔵"Well if that is what you want we will support you and your father and I will fly there in a few days so we can arrange everything that you need. Go talk to Richard and make sure to tell me everything. Good luck sweetie!!!" said Ellis

🔵"Thanks Mom and everyone for your support. See you all soon." 

They are all gone offline...

Maddison still does not know about her plans, she hasn't checked her phone yet in hours. She is now with Amelia in Carolyn's house. Mrs. Shepherd always invited her to their dinner every Sunday. After dinner, they are all gathered in the living room where they enjoy coffee and talks about random things. 

"So Derek how's your dinner with Dr. Grey," said Lizzy

"What? how did you know?" 

"Well I may have mentioned it to them," said Lexie feeling guilty

"Oh, My Goddddd Derek she agreed to have dinner with you?" said Maddy

"I tried not to be offended by that" he laughs 

"No... nooo.. It's just Mer has never been on a date since her last relationship ends. It's been 7 or 8 years. And every guy that wants to date her including all the renowned surgeons, she declined every one of them." replied Maddy while checking her phone

"And you, my dear brother is falling for her," said Amy

"I am not," said Derek

"Ohhhhh crappppp!!!!" said Maddy 

"Why? What happen?" said Kathleen

"My parents and siblings are coming to New York" 

"Wowwww! What's the reason?" replied Amy

"Apparently my favorite sister is staying in New York for good. She is also doing her fellowship in Neuro here and at the same time working as an attending in general surgery."

"She is?" replied Derek while smiling 

"Yes she is and my mom is freaking out a little but they are all supportive by her."

Derek immediately excuses himself and calls Meredith. They have been exchanging text messages and calls for days. 

"Hello" 

"Hey Mer. I've heard about the news and I'm happy that you're staying" 

"Me too... Can you go with me tomorrow? I want to talk to Richard about it."

"Absolutely Mer"

"Okay see you tomorrow. Goodnight Der"
