Y/n put down her phone and rushed to her brother's room. Ikki was hyped up after he heard the news and both siblings got themselves ready and went to Bokuto's residence. Bokuto was collecting his bags when the siblings arrived. Y/n and Ikki tackled Bokuto down and the three of the sprawled on the ground. They laughed. Bokuto's mother flashed a warm smile seeing the three of them were having a happy reunion after a few months.
" We missed you, Kou-nii! " Tears started to dwell in his eyes when he heard Ikki's words. He hugged y/n and Ikki tightly. Letting out all of his feelings he kept to himself for those few months in the hospital.
" I missed you guys too. " Y/n and Ikki helped him with his bags and walked into his house. Little did they know, a pair of cold orbs were watching that scene from afar. Rage was boiling in his heart. Not a scene that he wanted to witness with his very eyes.
Time skip (Inside Bokuto's house, 11 am)
Y/n was busy helping Bokuto's mother preparing lunch in the kitchen. Bokuto spent his time with Ikki playing games and talked about volleyball tips and tricks. Time flew fast. Y/n and Ikki had lunch with Bokuto and his family and chatted a lot. They were like a one whole happy family spending time together. Bokuto was like his usual self. He kept making jokes and his silly antics around. Somehow, Ikki, took a hint of something.
After lunch, Bokuto dragged Ikki and y/n into his room. Y/n and Ikki were reluctant but they had to give up after Bokuto made his significant puppy eyes and hair down. This made Bokuto really happy that he could spend more time with his best friends before they went home.
" I'm glad both of you are here! " he flashed a sheepish smile to the siblings. Y/n took a seat on a chair by his study desk and Ikki flopped himself on Bokuto's bed whilst Bokuto lied down besides Ikki. " It has been a hellish few months in the hospital. I missed you all so much. " Bokuto pouted.
" Well, since we're here why not we do something? Like Mr. Criminal? " Ikki suggested, making y/n to reject since she thought Bokuto needed some rest after being in the hospital for quite a while. " Oh, come on, sis! What else shall we do?" Ikki groaned.
" Ikki, Mr. Criminal requires lots of thinking. Kou needs to-- " Y/n was cut off by Bokuto.
" I say we do it! " he sat up straight, punching his fist to the air." Ikki smirked to his sister. Y/n replied by sticking her tongue out. " Ikki, you start first! " Ikki started the game without delaying for another second.
" Since I'm starting the game, I'll be Mr. Detective. " y/n and Bokuto nodded. " Bokuto Koutarou-san, I will start with you about the case which involved you, as the prime suspect. " Bokuto cheered gleefully and straighten up his composure, waiting for Ikki's challenge. Ikki nodded to Bokuto and started his theory.
" A love triangle, Ikki? Are you in that situation right now? " y/n mocked Ikki which made her brother to jump off the bed and tickled her. " Eeek! Stop tickling me! Ahahahaha! Ikki stop! " y/n tried to stop Ikki but he was too quick to avoid her hands. Bokuto laughed at the siblings. " Kou! I thought you're going to help me? " y/n pleaded for help.
" Hahaha.. you guys are so funny! " he wiped his tears for laughing a lot. Bokuto somehow felt relieved for still having y/n and Ikki beside him even after the accident happened. Deep inside his heart, he pondered about the reason behind the tragedy befallen on him. Why? Why me? What did I do wrong?
" Ah, it's almost time. We should get home now, Ikki. " y/n looked at her wristwatch and stood up straight, dusting off her clothes. Ikki nodded but Bokuto pouted.
"Aww already? Will you guys come and visit me again? "
" Of course, we would! " Ikki hugged Bokuto tight. Bokuto pulled y/n into their group hugs and the three of them laughed before he pulled away.
" Oh, uh, Ikki? Can we talk? Just the two of us? " Ikki looked at y/n and she nodded.
"Sure. "
Time skip (On the way to Y/n's home, 3pm)
Y/n and Ikki walked home after spending half of their day in Bokuto's house. The siblings chatted about their games earlier, how they teased Bokuto and more. Ikki, however was a little quiet after his private talk with Bokuto. That made y/n pondered. Her brother usually are talkative. This time, Ikki spaced out a lot. She nudged her brother's arm with her elbow.
" Hey, Ikki. You okay? " y/n looked into his feature that fully resembled their father. Ikki gave her a quick smile before looking up to the sky and sighed.
" I'm okay. I'm just a little worried since the finals are just around the corner, and so is the junior high prelims. " y/n chuckled and patted her brother's torso.
" Don't worry, lil bro. I believe you can excel in everything you do. You're the hottest, smartest and the most-- "
" Whoa whoa there, sis. " he laughed. " You are over complimenting me and I can't absorb them all at once. "
" Well, I'm not wrong. Look at all the valentine's chocolates you received every year! "
" Ughh, don't remind me of those. I hate that date every year since it will always be a burden to me carrying the chocolates home. " he face palmed.
" Well, why not you just give them away to your friends? "
" I-- am not THAT cruel to give away what people made for you. " he frowned. Y/n side hugged him and encouraged him for his studies and sports. Her phone buzzed and y/n quickly took it from her pocket. Akaashi's name appeared on the screen.
" Oh, it's Keiji! " she exclaimed and promptly received the call. " Keiji! You won't believe what happened today! "
" Y/n.... help..... me... " y/n heard Akaashi's raspy voice from the other side of the phone asking her for help. Y/n's smile faltered and was replaced by a fear expression.
" K- Keiji? What happened? Where are you?? " y/n's panic voice disturbed Ikki. He was looked at her with his eyes concerned. " I- I'll be there! Please wait for me, Keiji. " she hanged up and slid her hair behind.
" Sis? What's wrong with Keiji? " Ikki rubbed y/n's shoulders to calm her down.
" I- I need to go to Keiji. I don't know what happened but he sounded like he's in pain. Can you come with me Ikki? " Ikki nodded and both of them rushed to Akaashi's house. They knocked on the door but there was no answer. Ikki took an initiative to push down the door. They halted when they saw a dreadful view. Akaashi was lying motionless on the floor, in a puddle of blood came from his slashed wrist. His phone and the blade used to hurt himself were nearby him.
" No... " y/n went pale. She fell on her knees in terror. " No. Keiji, no. " Her whole body was shaking. Ikki rushed to Akaashi's side and carefully checked on his pulse. He turned white. He pulled out his phone and called for the ambulance. Y/n was unable to do anything but whimpered after seeing the immobile Akaashi.
