Chapter Seventeen:
Happy Holidays

THINGS WERE GOING smoothly now that Miss Jenn was officially reinstated. Walking into the last rehearsal before Thanksgiving Break, Lucy looked up from her phone and smiled warmly at Ej who happened to look up at the same time. He quickly motioned for her to come sit with him, which she happily did, plopping down next to him.

"Well you look particularly cheery today," Ej told her with a grin.

"I'm excited! I love Thanksgiving, dad and I always get up and make cinnamon rolls and watch the parade together, and I always help him cook, oh and there's the fact that my second not actually related to me-family always comes over to eat dinner with us and I can force my favorite Ej and my favorite twins to listen to Christmas music even if it's way too early," Lucy chirped.

"I'm your favorite Ej?" he asked with a grin.

"You're my only Ej," Lucy shot back with an equally big smile. Her eyes trailed down and she smiled at the shirt he was wearing, tugging on his sleeve gently. "I like this shirt, by the way. Does not go with your pants though."

"What do you mean?" he asked with a small frown.

"You look like a Ronald Mcdonald reject," Lucy pointed out, looking from his red striped shirt to the yellow pants, "I mean that with all the love in the world."

In front of them Ashlyn and Adam burst out laughing at her comment and Lucy couldn't help her giggles as Ej rolled his eyes at her amusedly. Rehearsal kicked off immediately, and Lucy had her head resting on Ej's arm as she watched Nini and Ricky with a proud smile. They were singing Start of Something New and Lucy loved the change in their passion from the beginning of the year till now.

Suddenly the bell rang and Ej quickly stood up, Lucy promptly falling over from the lack of support, as Ej began yelling out, "Yes! Yes! Whoo!"

Lucy sat up straight again and stared at him confusedly along with everyone else. Suddenly seeing everyone around him looking at him confused, he tucked his phone away again and sat back down as he apologized, "Sorry, I really love thanksgiving."

Lucy giggled and patted his knee gently, leaning forward as Miss Jenn gave her final notes, "Okay, hold on. I know everyone is excited for the holiday break, but I'm me and I have notes. Ricky and Nini, that was good, but it could be better. She said in the spirit of holiday cheer."

"Good save," Carlos assured her quietly.

"Huh, I thought we sounded okay," Ricky shrugged, smiling at Nini who returned the gesture.

"Heck yeah, we're kinda killin' it," Nini complimented.

"You mean both of us?" Ricky asked unsurely.

"Yeah," Nini chuckled.

"Oh, okay," Ricky smiled warmly at her.

"Your homework over this break, all of you, is to please go on vocal rest," Miss Jenn announced as everyone gathered their things, "and go over your lines too, which is hard to do on vocal rest, but make it work. And remember, may nothing ever block your doorway to happiness."

"Excuse me!" Mr. Mazzaro announced.

"Okay starting now," Miss Jenn grimaced. Lucy snorted and looked up at Ej who smiled amusedly down at her as they got up from their seats.
