ADELINE P.O.V
Emily had come and helped me move Stefan and Damon to a more secluded spot.
We sat at the water, neither of us uttering a word simply sitting and thinking. Katherine left, as I wished, and yet I was slowly starting to regret asking her to leave. She had barely been gone for 12 hours and it felt as if she had left for centuries. The thought of not seeing her felt like a weight on my heart, a toxin in my blood slowly clawing its way through my veins to my brain lighting it on fire.
"Penny for your thoughts." Emily finally broke the silence.
I looked over at her unsure of how to respond. Emily was never someone I felt close with. She just simply existed.
"Am I doing the right thing?" It was barely a sentence and I cursed the way I allowed myself to say it, sounding so insecure. Emily thought for a second before answering.
"May I be frank?" I nodded. "Your sister was a heinous bitch who manipulates and deceives to get what she wants, she hid a lot of things from you. But, she does love you. However, you need to live your own life. You have ran for far too long, your a child my dear, a child who grew up far too young and died far too young but this, this is your chance at some sort of happy life and I can't tell you if Stefan and Damon should be a part of that or if your sister should be because I don't have to live it. You do."
No one had ever spoken to me so honestly and with so much thought and kindness in their voice.
Emily was right. This is my chance, my opportunity to have something, anything. Without Kat, I get to choose. I looked down at Stefan and Damon and realised they had a decision to make too. One I couldn't be a factor in. I looked back at Emily.
"I can't be here when they wake up." It was more like a question than a statement, one Emily refused to answer. "I want for them to be a part of my life, I really do but if I allow that I am putting them in so much danger and I can't do that." I hadn't realised that a tear had escaped its way out of my eye. "What did she tell you to tell them?"
"For the plan to work they have to think your both in the tomb." That was what I was afraid of. If Damon thought I was in that tomb he would never stop trying to get me out. But if I told him anything else and people realised we weren't dead and Klaus caught wind of Damon and me, he would kill him in the blink of an eye.
"I care for him, Damon. But not as he does for me, he loves me and I can't thank him enough for showing me what that feels like again. But I don't feel the same and I don't love him as much as I wish I did because it would kind of be perfect. Stefan cares for me too I believe but I think it was just attraction at the start and that Katherine made it intensified with compulsion, he will be fine. They both will." I allowed a few more tears to stain my face before standing up and looking down at Emily. "Write to me and let me know if they complete their transition or not, I would like to keep an eye on them."
Emily stood up and clasped my hand in hers pulling me in for a hug.
"You deserve this chance, do not waste it." With that, she dried the last of my tears and I left.
I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going all I know is for the first time in over a century I get to make all the decisions and that feels pretty damn good.
THIRD-PERSON P.O.V
*In New Orleans*"Now I will ask one more time where exactly do you think your great aunt Emily is." Klaus sneered at the young Bennet boy in front of him.
He had been spending his days finding various people who knew the Bennets in an attempt to find Emily. After finding out she was the one who had cast all the spells that had stopped him from finding Adeline in the last 10 years, from what he had learnt so far Katerina or Katherine as she preferred now had a long line of Bennets wrapped around her finger.
"I don't know okay! We haven't spoken in years!" Klaus glared at the week imbecile in front of him and smirked.
"I've always had a slight hate for witches if we're being honest. They always find a way to meddle in things that have nothing to do with them. But they always have a lot of loved ones which makes it a hell of a lot easier for me. You're probably wondering what this has to do with you, well you have a lovely little wife I believe a human, blonde, short, brown eyes." William Bennets face suddenly drained at the idea of Mary here. He knew what Klaus wanted he just wasn't sure if he was willing to give in until he mentioned Mary.
"Mystic Falls, their in Mystic Falls!"
Klaus couldn't contain the grin that spread across his face. What a curious place for them to choose though, the very place he grew up in. That question was swiftly dislodged in his head when he thought of actually seeing Adeline again, being able to touch her, hold her. Yes, he had a big hole to dig himself out of with her but it was Adeline. Once he had disposed of her sister they could come back to New Orleans and he could show her what he had built.
"Your cooperation has been noted." And with that William Bennets head rolled across the floor. With all his joy Klaus failed to notice his sister in the doorway a look of fear in her eyes about what she had to tell her brother.
Rebekah had her own way of finding out who Emily Bennet was and it was considerably less bloody. She also found out that one week ago all vampires in Mystic Falls burned in a church fire. When Klaus found out she didn't know what he would do.
"Nik." It was barely a whisper but it was enough that Klaus heard it. Upon seeing his sisters face Klaus knew something was wrong.
"Rebekah, what's wrong?" Rebekah walked over to her brother knowing this would break his heart.
"There was a fire."
"Where?"
"Mystic Falls." Klaus had always been a master at disguising his emotions but for once in his life, he just couldn't, his entire body clenched when Rebekah uttered the same word that had caused so much joy, less than a minute ago.
"Don't." Klaus finally had what he had spent centuries searching for, he was happy and all he needed was her.
"The town council found out they were vampires and they forced them all into a church and burned it." Rebekah barely finished speaking before Klaus had her up against a wall, hands wrapped around her neck with a look of what can only be described as fear masked in anger.
"I said don't!" Klaus screamed in his sisters face in complete denial but Rebekah knew he had to hear it.
"She died."
Klaus released the grip he had on Rebekah and slowly sank to the ground doing something no one had saw the ruthless vampire do in centuries, cry.
