~Jae's POV~

Since our talk a few days ago, McKenna and I have been doing fine. We have made plans to spend some quality time together every night after putting the girls to bed and cooking breakfast together every morning.

We may never get back to the way we were before her assault. Truth be told, I don't want to get back to that point. I want us to grow stronger and closer than we were before. For us to do that, I need to be a better man and husband. I want to be the husband that she can depend on to protect her from any threat to her life.

If I was the kind of man that she needed from the get-go, she wouldn't have been brutally attacked and our baby would still be alive.

"Hubby, what are you thinking about so hard?" I hear her ask me while turning my face towards her.

"Nothing honey. I'm watching the movie with you." I replied then tried to look towards the T.V. if I kept looking into those mesmerizing eyes of McKenna, I was sure to pour my heart and soul out to her. Furthermore, I didn't want her to know that I felt like a weak man for not protecting my family.

She had enough to worry about, and I wanted to avoid putting any added stress upon her, which was sure to do if she knew that I was struggling to come to terms with my failure of being her protector as her husband.

"Liar, Pretty Woman ended almost ten minutes ago. Now let's try this again. What have you in such a deep in thought that you haven't noticed your wife trying to get your attention?"

"I'm worried about your safety when I have to going out of town this weekend to attend an important business merger in Paris, France." I half lied.

"Jae, if you're that worried that something might happen to me, then the girls and I can just come along with you. I've always wanted to visit Paris, France anyway."

"That's a great idea, babe. I don't know why I haven't thought of that." I replied while tucking a stray strain of hair behind her left ear.

"That's because you've been too stressed out lately. Having to worry about the girls, my safety, and running a business has been a lot for you to shoulder all by yourself." McKenna says to me then pulls me into a tight embrace.

"That's part of my job as a protector and provider, honey. If I can't do that, then what use am I to you as your husband and our kids as their dad?" I murmured with my face nestled in the crook of her neck.

"Jae, you're human. You can do all that you can to protect us, but that still doesn't mean that nothing can't harm us. I understand that you want to keep the girls and me safe, but I don't want you worrying yourself sick in the process."

"Mrs. Young, a certified package just arrived for you." Antonio, "her bodyguards," tell McKenna when I was about to respond to her last statement.

"Thank you, Antonio," I tell him after taking a large, thick envelope out of his hand.

"I wonder what that could be?" McKenna asked me while I inspected the envelope for anything that could possibly be harmful to her. Since McKenna's attack, I've been doing this to everything that comes to the house unexpectedly.

The envelope was addressed to her from a lawyer name Micheal Castro from the law firm of Bristol & Castro. McKenna's hands began to tremble when I passed her the envelope. "I'm right here, honey," I tell her after cupping her trembling hands in mine.

"Jae, can you see what's in the envelope for me?" She nervously asked me.

"Sure," I replied, then takes it out of her hand. "It looks like it's a letter from Amy's lawyer," I tell her, then proceeds to read her the contents of the documents inside the envelope.

"I, Ms. Amy Brooks, transfer ownership of Wilcox Cosmetics and the two-point-five million dollars in my bank account at Regency Trust Bank over to Mrs. McKenna Yung if something was to happen to me. There currently exists no claim or litigation involvement against the property located at 2215 Riverside Ave. Along with Wilcox Cosmetics, I am also transferring ownership to the four thousand square feet estates on 1716 Parkway Street to Mrs. McKenna Yung. The house has been newly renovated and well maintained. This letter is to certify that these two properties and the funds in my account will be properly transferred over to Mrs. Yung. I also wish to assign legal guardianship of my daughter Hannah Andrea Brooks to Mr. Jae & McKenna Yung. Signed this day, Jan 15, 2021, by Amy Brooks. Mrs. Yung a date to sign the transfer of ownership has been set for Monday, Aug 10, 2021, at 2:15 pm in the conference room of Bristol & Castro. You will need to bring two forms of I.D and be on time." The document reads.

A smaller personalized note from Amy addressed to McKenna was also stuffed inside the envelope.

~Amy's Letter~

"Hello, McKenna I surmise that if you are reading this letter it only means that I am no longer among the living or at the very least I'm nearing the end of my life. McKenna, I have been blessed to meet another woman who treats my daughter like her very own daughter. I have no doubt in my mind that you and Jae will love and raise Hannah to become a respectful young lady. Thank you for becoming my best friend and family when I needed you most. I love you, McKenna. Please let my daughter know that I love her. I only ask you and Jae, please don't let my parents take guardianship of my daughter or gain ownership of Wilcox Cosmetics.

Love always Amy Brooks."

By the time I finished reading Amy's personal letter to McKenna she was crying her eyes out. I sat the note on the coffee table and pulled her into my arms. A few minutes later, I heard a loud commotion coming from outside the front door.

"Where is that ugly ass black bitch that has stolen everything away from me?" I hear a female yell.

"Bring her ass out here right now!" Another female voice shouted.

"Stay right here, McKenna," I ordered her before walking towards the front door.

"I'm so sorry, Mr. Yung for the disturbance." Antonio apologizes while restraining Amy's mom and the other guard held on tightly to her twin sister.

"I want you two off my property right now." I roared after closing the front door behind me.

"I'm not going anywhere until I have a word with your wife." Mrs. Brooks sneered.

"You two can leave here on your own or in a body bag, so I suggest you choose wisely." I threatened while pulling the gun out of the holster I had hidden underneath my shirt.

"You and your skank-ass wife will pay for what you've done to my mom." Amy's sister threatened me. She grabbed her mom by the right arm and pulled her along behind her, screaming foul language at me. McKenna was sitting on the sofa holding Hannah and Raleigh in her arms when I re-entered the living room.

"Everything is fine," I reassured all three of them while gathering them in my arms.
