'He would not shut up!' Eleanor laughed as Adrian stopped to toss her rubbish into the bin.

'So he just talked about himself all night?' Adrian asked and lent on the cold railing, watching Eleanor who was moving around to keep warm.

Eleanor nodded frantically and took a sip of her coffee. She stopped and sheepishly admitted, 'I left before dinner even arrived.' She purposely left out the details about the end of her night. If she told her the whole precinct would know by the end of the day.

'Wow. Well, he sounds like a real keeper.' Adrian wiggled her eyebrows at her. 'Why did you even go out with him?'

'Because my mother is crazy and set me up with him. She keeps reminding me, 'your biological clock is almost up', who's gonna tell her I don't want my own kids?' Eleanor grumbled as she and Adrian began walking inside to get away from the weather. 'I have nieces and nephews, I don't need to push out any of my own.'

'Oh, come on Eleanor, don't you want to have a little one to call yours? Go through the entire pregnancy, the up's and down's, and get a beautiful little baby at the end of it all?' Adrian sighed happily as they ascended the stairs towards the bullpen. 'Or do you just hate children?'

Eleanor laughed and said, 'No! No, I don't hate children! I- I love them!' She shook her head as she continued, 'I just don't want my own. It's just too much responsibility.'

Adrian raised her eyebrows and started walking backwards as Eleanor stopped at her desk, a soft and comical look on her face as her best friend pulled faces at her. Children have always been a tough subject for Eleanor. The problem was, she did want kids of her own, but she knew she couldn't ever have them.

'And you're supposed to be protecting our city? What's up with that?' She asked and held her arms out, accidentally hitting Andrew in the shoulder. 'Oop, sorry!'

'You're a funny woman, Jones,' Eleanor muttered and took her coat off to place it over the back of her chair.

Before she could sit down a voice called out and asked, 'Anyone volunteering to go on stand by downtown?' It was their Captain.

Everyone shared a look of boredom. No one wanted to go stand around and do nothing when there was work to be done at their desks. Luckily  for Eleanor, she didn't have much to do and she didn't want to create more work for herself by digging up old files all day.

Eleanor sighed and raised her hand.

'I'll do it. I'll head down there now.' She grabbed her shoulder holster from her desk and put it on.

'Very well, much appreciated Owens,' he said and nodded at her before retreating back into his office.

Eleanor put her coat on and tucked her phone and wallet into the pockets.

'I will see you, ladies, later,' she chirped and waved at everyone, grinning at the chorus of goodbye's she received from everyone.

On her way out of the precinct, she walked past Dick, who questioned where she was going. They stopped on the staircase as officers rushed between them to get past.
