Eleanor squeezed Kory's hand tightly before placing a small kiss on her cheek. She and Rachel had come back with Sebastian after leaving with him to protect him from the cult. However, they managed to lose him after he traded himself for their lives. The witch they were after called herself Mother Blood.

'As far as we know, this temple could be on the top of Mount Everest,' Tim said, spinning himself around in a chair. 'And even if we do find it, how do we get him out of there?'

Gar took a large bite of his banana and said, 'We could teleport! Or that's not a thing?'

'And this is all assuming the ritual hasn't already happened. If it has—' Kory was interrupted by Jinx scoffing loudly from her place, sitting cross-legged on the desk.

'We're fucked. The whole world is fucked,' Jinx muttered in disbelief.

Eleanor's stomach churned at the thought of the world's end approaching. Finally, when things were going her way, the world began to end. It was almost comical at this point.

'We gotta still believe there's a chance,' Dick said, using both of his hands to lean on the desk in front of him. '

'A chance to save him,' Rachel said, crossing her arms over her chest. Eleanor understood where she was coming from. She knew the lengths she would go to to protect her brother— she figured Rachel would go even one step further. She had a kind heart.

'Yes, anything less is a failure,' Dick reassured her.

'So what's our move?' Jinx asked, glancing at Eleanor as she leaned on the desk behind Tim. Her attention then turned to the familiar face entering the room with a stride so confident she almost threw up.

'Something happened to... to your head!' Gar said, pointing at Conner with the banana in his hand.

'Are you wearing cologne?' Kory asked, scrunching her nose.

Conner grinned and turned to Jinx as he said, 'It's Drakkar Noir. You're welcome. If you're all done taking in the view...' He lowered himself into a chair at the end of the desk and placed his feet on the table. 'Grab a seat. We've got a demon to stop.'

Eleanor rounded the desk and moved to stand next to Dick as everyone inched closer to hear Conner's new plan. He frightened her— not due to the latest hairstyle or lack thereof, but from the glint in his eye that was unrecognisably dangerous.

'The Blood Moon sets in two hours and six minutes. What's your big idea?' Dick asked Conner once everyone was paying attention.

'It's a three-step process. We find them, kill them, and go have a cold one.'

'Effective,' Eleanor muttered, earning a glare from everyone at the table but Conner.

'We're not doing that.' Dick shut Conner down rather quickly.

'I am done playing demon rescue-and-rehab.' Conner rose to his feet, adjusting his leather jacket. 'This bitch killed my dad and put a snake up my guts. It's time for her and the kid to go bye-bye.'

'She's on high alert. It's too dangerous. We need to find a way to bring Sebastian back without a head-on battle,' Dick explained as gently as he could. His facial expression, however, gave away his true feelings— his brows were pulled into a deep frown, and his jaw was set hard.

'There's an old saying, Richard. "He, who doesn't learn from history, is a..." What is it? Oh, yeah, a fucking moron!' Conner exclaimed with a soulless laugh. Eyes around the table widened. 'If we killed him when we had the chance, we'd all be in the R.V. heading to 'Frisco right now.'
