Listening to the red-haired woman, who Eleanor now knew as Kory Anders, grumble to herself like a child because she was forced to sit in the car whilst Dick went into the Police station to get as much information about Rachel as he could, Eleanor closed her eyes firmly and wished she was anywhere but where she was.

They had been stuck in the car with one another for almost two days and Eleanor had been forced into the back seat by Kory. At first, she wasn't complaining, for she could lay down, but when she realised she lost control of the music, and her own window, she regretted agreeing to sit in the back.

'So what's the deal with you and Dick?' Kory asked and looked at Eleanor in the mirror.

Eleanor, who was lying down on the backseat to take some weight off her side, craned her neck and looked at Kory with an arched eyebrow.

'Oh come on. If it wasn't for Rachel explaining a few things to me I would have thought you two were a thing,' she said followed by a scoff. 'He definitely likes you.'

Eleanor's cheeks grew pink as she scrambled to sit up quickly. 'Oh, no! No, it's not like that, it won't ever be like that...' Her heart was in her mouth— she was just grateful it wasn't her foot.

Kory turned in her seat and placed her hand on Eleanor's knee softly with a smile. 'You're oblivious to it all, so you need to fix that.' She sat back, leaving Eleanor wondering why she expected the woman to give her a pep talk.

Rolling her eyes, Eleanor laid back down and pulled her jacket over the top of her head. She was still wearing those ridiculous clothes the sisters had put her in, but she had no other things to wear.

Dick soon quickly climbed back into the driver's seat and took off out of the parking lot, merging into traffic. He remained silent as Kory looked at him expectantly, but she quickly gave up with a sigh. They all sat in silence for the entire drive, Eleanor even fading in and out of sleep a few times thanks to the hum of the engine.

She was exhausted, and she knew she had suffered worse injuries, but she was younger, fitter, and healthier back then. It's just going to take her longer to recover now, not to mention the stress Rachel had caused for them all despite it not actually being Rachel's fault— It was a whole thing and she was still attempting to wrap her mind around it all.

They pulled into a long driveway and parked in front of an old cabin, each of them eyeing the dog chained up to a post several feet away, barking in worry. The lights were on inside and there was a figure moving about, one they could all clearly see from the car.

Dick looked down at Eleanor after they all climbed out of the car and stood out the front of the small house. She was a mess. No shoes and pyjamas that looked like they come from Woodstock, followed by a spare jacket Dick had in his trunk. He fought the way his lips twitched into a small smile.

'We'll go in and talk to him, see what he knows. Are you okay to keep watch?' Dick asked her.

She didn't nod or say anything, she just stared at him in thought, completely forgetting she was supposed to reply to him. She was too hung up on what Kory said. Was she telling the truth? Could that possibly be why he's always been there for her?

'Hey, you alright?' He asked leaning closer, gently grabbing her wrist.

Eleanor nodded and snapped back to reality at the sudden contact of their skin. 'Yeah. Uh, just go and do your thing,' she muttered.

Dick nodded and patted her good side gently before following Kory into the cabin.

Eleanor spun around and crossed her arms, looking down the dark road they had just come up.
