Drawing his hand back, you weren't surprised by how his demeanor changed. Brows furrowed, he looked down at you with what looked like skepticism.

"You're asking this now?" he questioned. "Just what's been going on in that head of yours?"

Turning around completely, you forced yourself to face him. Arms crossed and chin tilted, you watched as his face scrunched lightly at your stance.

"Don't beat around the bush, Eren."

"No, I think I will," he returned, rolling his shoulders while he spoke.

Maybe it was because of the lighting, but Eren's eyes began to gleam; staring down at you, he brought a hand to his scalp, pushing back the strands that had loosened from his bun. Letting out a scoff, the corners of his lips tugged into a small smile.

"Don't tell me you're jealous."

Your heart nearly froze mid-beat hearing those words. Stiffening in your spot against the door, you bit your lips shut in panic.

Eren remained quiet as he observed your sudden change; as if wondering just how much he should add to the topic. Releasing his shoulders, he then let out what looked to be a satisfied sigh.

"I guess we're both in a tight spot," he tilted his head down, a mischievous look in his eyes. "Isn't that cute?"

Eren then dared to take another step closer, raising an arm of his own. He cupped a hand over your cheek as if forcing you to acknowledge him.

"Do you want to be let in on a secret?" his voice deepened, looking at you for a response.

You swallowed the saliva that had started to gather, hesitating on how to reply. His switch of character hadn't been seen in a while. You hate to admit it, but you were genuinely curious as to why he chose to expose his serious side now.

"What is it?" you let out under your breath. Though you had been much, much closer to him than this, the tension still found a way to get to you.

The boy looked into your eyes as he spoke, as if displaying a hint of sincerity within his words.

"It bothered me, seeing you get along with my friends so easily," he mumbled just to where you could hear him.

As he took a moment to pause, he lowered his eyes to the floor, breaking eye contact. As you were about to urge him to continue, he suddenly furrowed his brows, hinting at a sudden mood change.

"But how well you get along with Levi...it pisses me off the most."

You creased your brows as you stared back at him, unsure of how you were supposed to take that.

"But why?" you challenged. Though you already knew the answer, you wanted to hear him admit it. Just once, you wanted to see him swallow his pride, to get a taste of what you've been feeling this entire time. And you were savoring every last bit of his discomfort.

Using the hand that held your face, he tilted your head upward, observing your expression intensely. Eren pushed his body onto yours, bringing his other hand to your face.

Instead, he shoved his face back towards yours, letting his lips speak for him.

Just like Mikasa, his mouth still had the faint taste of alcohol. Though there were probably more substances in him than you would have liked, you recognized that his actions this time weren't out of lust.

Maybe it was because you hadn't touched each other in days, or maybe it was because he didn't know how else to show his frustrations. But his desperation couldn't have been any more obvious.

His breath was shallow, and the warmth of his body radiated over you greatly. You looked at him slightly wide-eyed, breath hitching from the sudden clash.

His other hand found itself behind your head, seemingly too eager to embrace your entirety.

He paused, looking down at your lips, then back to your eyes. Though he seemed hesitant, he also seemed frantic to keep you close.

"I guess...I'm jealous too."

Time seemed to have stopped after hearing that. His rush of words continued to repeat in your head; as if reminding you of the mental checklist you had created prior to the party. As much as you wanted to run out and look for Hitch, declaring that you had managed to reach your goals, you remained silent.

You lowered your eyes, staring down at your feet once again. You felt Eren's hands release from your face, retrieving them back to his sides. He stayed silent as you cleared your throat, getting ready to reply.

"You still didn't answer the question, Eren."

Silence filled the room once more. You couldn't help but bite deeper onto your lip, sensing the quiver that could have happened at any moment.

"I am," he finally spoke, a bit too quickly.

You raised a brow at him, showing your distrust in his words. Bringing a hand to his face, he began to rub over his forehead in a stressed manner.

"But...I mean, I guess I miss her sometimes."

Seeing that you refused to look up, he rushed to fill the gap he had created. Taking hold of your dropped wrists, he urged for you to look up.

"But it doesn't mean anything!" he followed up, tilting his head to get a better look at you.

"I get it, she likes girls now!" He added. "I just never got to say a proper goodbye, all because Mikasa-"

Eren continued to speak, throwing one explanation after the other, but all you could do was block it out. Only the faint outline of his voice seemed to have passed through, but even then you didn't care to comprehend it.

You instead turned around, breaking free from his grasp around your arms. Eren watched as you twisted the door handle, opening the entrance just enough to slip through.

"Wait, why are you leaving?" He grasped a hand over the door's edge.

You paused in the middle of the door frame, turning to look at him with an apathetic expression. Similar to what Levi had done on the couch, your eyes were shaded over by the light.

"I won't take those words to heart, Eren," you spoke quietly.

Shifting over to the table where he had kept all of his borrowed notes, your eyes searched for the journal that you had inspected last time.

When your eyes finally landed on the familiar rugged material, you drew your arm towards it. It has yet to move from where you had set it down last, which shamelessly was observed to be a good thing.

"If you want to have meaningless sex, that's fine," you held the journal up in front of his chest. Eren's eyes darted down to the book, visibly shocked by your knowledge of the value it held.

"But I'm not looking for the same, not anymore, at least."

And with that, you turned back towards the door, not caring to look back at his stunned expression.

Though it felt liberating, you couldn't help but also find it a bit underwhelming. You practically confessed to your pent-up feelings, and you'd like to believe Eren had done the same.

Letting out a long sigh as you advanced down the stairs, a smile managed to form itself over you.

Eren took the bait, there was no doubt about it.

All you had to do now, was have fun.
