TP POV:
The atmosphere of the underworld was ever gloomy. The skies were just as charred as before and the screams were ever wailing. But somehow, it still felt different.
Jeongguk felt odd in his own domain.
Cerberus bowed to the lord of darkness. The three-headed beast was fierce and passionately barbaric. But in front of its master Cerberus was the most docile puppy. The creature obeyed the god, but Jeongguk knew it would never be able to fathom just how powerful its creator was.
As the raven walked, the beast followed behind. The halls were ever dark and the atmosphere was almost eery. But Hades was probably the most horrible nightmare walking around so he of course didn't mind.
But something felt out of place. Had his palace always been this cold and unwelcoming? Maybe it was because of the brightly lit hallways of the Daagi palace that he grew accustomed to. Or maybe it was the lack of people around. Daagi had maids and guards at every corner. But Jeongguk didn't need protection nor waiting servants because everyone here arrived at his every beck and call.
Or maybe it was because Taehyung wasn't within arm's reach now that the hallways had become darker than how they used to be.
The god felt empty inside for some reason. Like this hollow void in his chest as if something were missing. Was he missing the Omega? Was that it?
How absurd.
Jeongguk snickered to himself in mockery. Had he really become so attached? Or perhaps had he already fallen? That made the raven stop in his tracks, eyes widening in horror. Really?
Cerberus stared at his master confused. Hades was a stone faced man. Giving away expressions with such ease like this was never his thing. So the beast did not know how to interpret such expressions. They felt so foreign on the usually cold and stern god.
Hades was not fond of hell. It was dark, depressing, and disgusting. Staying there was unbearable. But it was the only home he knew now. After Zeus had thrown him out of Olympus and banned others from entering the domain, he had truly become lonely. He was forced to adjust to the horrible surroundings and accept that darkness and death would be his only companions.
Millenniums passed by and Zeus eventually forgot about his curse. The gateways to hell opened for the Olympian gods. But by that time Jeongguk had already changed. He didn't want others in his space anymore. So he himself blocked entry to the netherworld and locked himself away.
He had become one with the darkness he had once despised.
So to lose the one thing he actually has would break him more than anything ever had before. To prevent that he must never bring anyone potential of becoming his queen back to hell.
He at first wanted an escape when he left the underworld. But then circumstances brought him over to a pretty prince with a swoon-worthy personality. What were the chances of them ever meeting if he had opened the portal somewhere else? None.
Nothing ever happens by chance. Meeting Taehyung was his fate. But that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.
"I see you're back" Jeongguk could already feel the irritation seeping in before the other person could even do anything. "It seems I see you here more often than I'd like Yugyeom" the raven grumbled. Yugyeom snorted at the comment. "Now now, let's face it, if it really were up to you you'd prefer never seeing my face" the massenger joked.
Hades turned to the other in mock surprise "so you knew?!" He said as if he were actually offended. Yugyeom gaped at the other in disbelief. "Did you just...pull a joke?!" His expression practically screamed that he couldn't believe his senses at the moment.
