,,Should we check in on them?" Ricky asked. It has been around ten minutes since Gina left with EJ.
,,Yeah, we could do that." Ashlyn agreed.
,,Hey! You two! Are you up for a round of Uno?" he shouted. Giggles sounded from upstairs.
,,What are they-" Ricky was about to get up when they could hear footsteps coming from the stairs.
,,We're here. Let's play." Gina was hanging around EJ's neck and they were both laughing for some reason. Ricky frowned, but Ashlyn's condescending look stopped him from saying anything.
,,What if we play as teams? Gina with me, Ricky with Ash." EJ suggested with a wide smile on his face. Were they drunk? They certainly looked like it.
,,That sounds like a great idea!" Gina nodded.
,,Or we could all stay single for a while." Ricky mumbled loud enough for anyone to hear him. Ashlyn widened her eyes, EJ and Gina stopped laughing.
,,Yep. We could do that." EJ said and sat down. Gina sat down opposite to him. Everyone was tense as Ricky laid down cards on the table.
They played the game for a while, but the atmosphere didn't get any better. EJ and Gina felt like two children who got scolded by an adult, Ricky was sulking and Ashlyn wasn't sure what she was doing there. They played for a while until Ashlyn couldn't take it anymore.
,,I'm going to my room. You guys can sort out whatever this is on your own." she stood up and left. Gina wanted to follow her, but Ash signaled her to stay. She was the root of their problems, whether she wanted it or not.
,,Yeah, I have no idea what she meant by that. I'm going to grab a soda." Ricky left Gina with EJ as he made his way to the kitchen.
,,Are we allowed to laugh now?" EJ tried lightening up the mood. Gina tried to stay serious, but she just couldn't with EJ's face. They both started giggling again, which resulted in a loud slam coming from the kitchen. ,,Guess not." EJ stopped laughing.
,,I should go. You two talk things out, alright?" he said, grabbing his things. Gina sighed. She knew he was right, she just didn't want to confront Ricky, especially now that he's mad.
,,I'm sure it will be fine." he gave her a pat on the shoulder, smiled and encouraged her to go find Ricky. She nodded.
Ricky heard the door close. Has EJ left? Did those two finally stop giggling? He didn't want to be as rude as he was, but something about them laughing together was getting on his nerves. He leaned against the counter and took a loud sip of his soda. As he did that, Gina entered the room. He nervously clutched the can, unsure of what's going to happen next.
,,Can we talk?" she asked, slowly approaching him.
,,Is there something we need to talk about?" he asked, taking another sip. His angry face wasn't convincing anyone, yet it still made Gina a little anxious.
,,Why are you being so rude?" she asked. Ricky put the can down on the counter.
,,I'm trying not to be. I guess I can't act civil around that dude."
,,Ricky, you can always talk to me. What's going on?"
,,I don't want to talk. Not today." he turned his head away from her.
Gina was left with no choice but to drop the topic. She sat down at the kitchen table, the tension slowly rising.
,,Are you two official now?" Ricky suddenly said.
,,What? Me and EJ?" she asked and Ricky nodded. ,,Is that what this is all about?"
,,What is?"
,,My relationship with EJ."
,,So you are official?"
,,Stop dodging my questions!" Gina raised her voice.
,,Maybe I could stop dodging them if you answered mine!" Ricky walked over to the table.
,,No, we're not. I told him we work better as friends." her voice dropped back to normal.
,,Good, that's good." Ricky sat down. He noticed Gina raise an eyebrow. ,,I mean, it's awful that you two didn't work out, but great that you've decided to stay friends."
,,Is there something you're not telling me?" she looked at him and Ricky knew he couldn't run away this time.
,,Seeing you with EJ hurts. I don't like it. I hate the idea of you two being together."
,,Why is that?"
,,What's with all these questions?"
,,Well, it's a little entertaining to watch you."
,,This is entertaining?" Ricky was getting angry.
,,I mean, kind of. You left me in the dust last year, you ignored me and you spent all of your time with Nini. That hurt, too. It's sort of funny to see you experiencing the same thing when you were the one hurting me before, you know?"
,,Oh, come on. Don't throw all the blame on me. You blew me off during the improv exercise, remember?"
,,Wow, I didn't want to do an exercise with you. How sad. How about when you didn't talk to me in school, avoided me during breaks and were in shock when I visited you at your house?"
,,I never avoided you, you must have been imagining that. I might have been busy, I'm sorry about that, but I wouldn't avoid you on purpose." he said, the sadness in Gina's eyes slightly fading. ,,To be honest I spent a lot of time with Big Red, too. Not just Nini."
,,Was that supposed to make me feel better?"
,,Uhm, I guess not. Sorry."
Ashlyn walkden in. ,,Oh, don't mind me, just here to grab my smoothie."
Both Ricky and Gina followed her with their eyes, both unsure whether she has just saved or ruined the moment. Ashlyn reached out for her drink and faced them. ,,Are you finally talking about the airplane stuff?"
,,What?" Ricky said confused, but he noticed Gina knew exactly what Ashlyn was talking about.
,,I've got no idea what you're talking about." she started pretending.
,,You know, when the plane is going down... people confess things?" Ash winked and ran upstairs.
,,Confess what things?" Ricky was still confused.
,,She was joking. I told her a metaphor about a plane going down the day of improv class. She must have taken it too seriously."
,,Yeah, no, I don't think that's it from the way you two looked at each other."
,,Seriously, it's noth-" Gina was playing with her ring, Ricky interrupted her.
,,Is this the reason why you were crying that day?" he asked. Her head shot up, jaw almost dropping.
