Follows episode 9. I think we all need some Rina action after what happened. None of the previous chapters in this story have happened.
,,Thank you so much for driving me home, EJ." Gina smiled at him when they arrived at Ashlyn's house.
,,No problem, at least I saved you a few bucks on the ride." he chuckled.
,,You did." she laughed. ,,Wanna come in?"
,,No, but thanks. I think I've been annoying Ashlyn for long enough today."
,,Ha, okay. I'll see you tomorrow then." she said, getting out of the car.
As she stood there watching EJ drive away, she smiled to herself. The time has come for her to do something more dangerous than landing. It's time for a take off.
,,Gina! I missed you." Ashlyn ran to her when she was taking off her shoes. ,,I've been gone for a day. What would you have done if I caught my flight?" Gina laughed, hugging her.
,,Cry in my room and eat lots of ice-cream?" Ashlyn said, making them both laugh. ,,Come on, I made you something to eat."
Ashlyn prepared the meal while Gina was taking her jacket off.
,,Hold on, is that EJ's hoodie?" she stopped, studying Gina's clothes.
,,Uhh, yes. He left it here the night he came to talk to you."
,,So you wore it?"
,,Yep. He used it as a blanket when I fell asleep. I thought it was cute."
,,Is there something going on between the two of you? Because I've noticed you getting closer but I didn't think you were getting this close." Ashlyn proceeded with the meal preparation.
,,I'm honestly not sure what to think. I don't want to get my hopes up after last time, you know?"
,,I get that. Plus, EJ isn't the best when it comes to relationships. Or at least he wasn't, he changed a lot since then." Ashlyn put the meal on Gina's plate. ,,Eat up and tell me what you think."
Gina buried her fork into it and tasted it.
,,So?" Ashlyn was overflowing with curiosity.
,,I'm cooking next time." Gina said, making Ashlyn's smile crumble.
,,I'm joking!" she quickly added.
,,It's fine, I know I'm not a good cook. I'm better at other things."
,,Hey, you're not bad. This is pretty neat. But I agree that you're better at other stuff."
,,Yeah. Wait, back to our previous conversation." Ashlyn changed the topic, making Gina look away.
,,Do you have feelings for EJ now?" she asked sincerely.
,,Maybe? I told you I don't want to go through the same things again."
,,What if you won't? What if he had feelings for you too? What would you do then?"
Gina went quiet. What would she do if a boy reciprocated her feelings? Is EJ the one she should be with?
,,I think I'd go for it?" she said.
,,Then what's stopping you?" Ashlyn asked.
Going through another heartbreak is stopping her. Embarrassing herself, ruining a friendship. Things like that.
,,Hey, stop it. I know what you're thinking. But honestly, you should do what your heart's telling you to do." Ashlyn interrupted her thoughts. ,,What is your heart telling you?" she said in a French accent, reminding them both of their improvisation class.
,,Yes, and... I think you're right. I'm just going to go for it." she gave Ashlyn a wide smile. Ashlyn squealed. ,,I hope it works out for you!"
,,I hope so, too."
A week later
,,Bye, mom." Ricky hugged Lynne for the third time today.
,,Take care, honey." she smiled at him. He nodded and boarded the airplane. He found his seat, put away his bag and looked out the window. He could still see his mom but she could no longer see him. He's going to miss her so much. These past few days have shown him that she cared for him even if she wasn't showing it well and that's honestly all he needed to know. Maybe things won't be so bad after all.
He took out his phone and looked at the messages. He still hasn't replied to anyone yet, but it's time for him to do that. He thanked everyone for their messages and kind words, knowing he has friends that got his back made him feel better. EJ's text was the most interesting; "somebody was worried about you"? Who's somebody?
Suddenly the captain spoke, welcoming everyone on the flight and telling them to put their phones on airplane mode.
,,Huh." EJ muttered. He and Gina were on a picnic in the park right next to East High.
,,What's up?" Gina asked him.
,,Remember that message you made me send to Ricky?"
,,I didn't make you send anything, I just told you I'm worried about him."
,,Okay, so you do remember it. He just left me on read! How rude is that?"
,,He left everyone on read, don't look too much into it."
,,Ashlyn just texted me that Ricky finally replied."
,,He has?!" Gina snatched EJ's phone from him.
,,Wh- Hey!" he tried getting it back with no success.
,,Ricky just texted. He's fine, said he's on his way home now." she read the message out loud.
,,Yes, I know. I've read the message, since it's on my phone." EJ crossed his arms.
,,I wonder why he has been so distant lately." Gina continued thinking out loud while ignoring EJ and handing him his phone back.
,,Didn't you hear? He and Nini broke up like a week and a half ago." EJ said, studying his phone as if to see if Gina has hurt it in any way.
,,What? So right before spring break? How come everyone except me knows that?"
,,I don't know, I guess you never asked?"
,,Was I supposed to go around asking people if he and Nini broke up?" she squinted her eyes at him.
,,True. Okay, fine. I don't know, guess it just hasn't circled around fast enough." EJ said, then started searching something on his phone, giving Gina another opportunity to get lost in her thoughts. Is that why Ricky was in Chicago? Poor guy, it must have been hard for him to talk to his mom again, especially after what she did. She wondered what he must be feeling.
,,Earth to Gina?" EJ snapped her out of her thoughts. ,,I was saying we should head back home?"
,,Yeah, we should. Let me help you clean up." she nodded and got up. She needs to leave Ricky in the past. He chose Nini, now he lost her, but that's not Gina's fault. She has moved on, she has her thing going on with EJ, whatever it is. She shouldn't worry about him.
,,Ready to go?" EJ asked.
