Make You Happy - a Rina story

There's a time to change

Since ep10 didn't have that much going on with Rina (apart from a few moments I already included in the story following ep9), I'm going to skip it. Plus the story after ep9 is only 4 chapters long so far, so why not. Don't give up hope my fellow Rinas!

Ricky was putting school books into his locker when someone suddenly shut it close right in front of him, almost trapping his fingers inside.

,,What the hell?!" he snapped, then his eyes widened and his anger was gone. ,,Nini?"

,,It's Nina, Richard."

,,Right. What are you doing here? Any specific reason for why you tried to get rid of my fingers?"

,,I thought you said there's nothing going on between you and Gina." she took a step closer, making Ricky take a step back.

,,There isn't? What is this about?"

,,Could you stop lying to me?!" Nini threw her hands.

,,I'm not lying to you!" Ricky backed up again. Nini stepped in front of him, he leaned back on the lockers behind him.

,,Don't. Lie. To. Me." she pointed at him.

,,O-okay?" he stuttered. This made Nini satisfied enough to leave.

,,Dude, what was that? I saw the whole thing but I was a little scared to intervene." Big Red walked up to him.

,,I have no idea." Ricky replied, still watching after Nini. ,,She was talking about Gina. Got all mad. Apparently there is something going on between us even if I denied it multiple times."

,,Oh, that's probably because you two talked yesterday when you left the sleepover."

,,How would she know about that?" Ricky chuckled and shook his head.

,,Gina told her."

,,Why would she do that?!" Ricky shouted in shock. They received a few stares from by-passers. 

,,I don't know. Ashlyn told me that Gina came back to the sleepover and told everyone she was hanging out with you."

,,That's bad. That's really bad." Ricky put his hand on his forehead.

,,What is?" Big Red asked. Ricky stared at him in disbelief, then sighed.

,,Nini thinks I have feelings for Gina, I told her no - twice - and then the next thing she knows, me and Gina are hanging out at night."

,,Oh yeah. You're screwed, dude. Lucky for you I'm good with screw drivers, I can unscrew you at any time." Big Red gave him a thumbs up. Ricky furrowed his eyebrows and narrowed his eyes.

,,Too lame?" Big Red asked. Ricky rolled his eyes and started walking away. ,,Wait for me!" Red ran after him.

The day flew by quickly. It was time for rehearsals. Ricky was a little anxious after his morning encounter with Nini, but he was certain they could put their issues aside and focus on the show.

He entered the theater. Everyone was already there, gathered in small groups, talking.

A few people have noticed him and he gave them a smile. Then he saw Nini out of the corner of his eye. She did not look happy.

,,Rickyy, there you are!" Gina grabbed him by the arm. He could see Nini's expression getting even worse. ,,Come on, I have something to show you!" Gina pulled him away before he could react to anything that was happening.

,,What was that about?" he asked when she finally let go of him. They were quite far away from others, they could barely see them, let alone hear what they were saying.

,,Sorry. Something came over me and I have no idea what." Gina looked weirded out by her own actions. ,,I just- I saw you coming in and I noticed Nini was looking at you, which made something inside of me snap?"

,,Why would want to snap?" Ricky put his hands in his pockets.

,,Not sure. Maybe it's because of yesterday. She wasn't exactly kind to me."

,,I see." his face now had a sad expression on it. ,,Was it because of the chocolates?"

,,Yeah. I don't know why she got so worked up about it. I told her it was no big deal."

,,Guess she didn't believe our lies, then." Ricky said quietly. His words made Gina remember their conversation from last night.

,,Ugh, I shouldn't be talking to you right now." she blurted out, trying to leave, but Ricky gently grabbed her arm.

,,Why shouldn't you? I thought we were good?"

Gina faced him again. ,,Yes, but it still hurts a little. Plus I feel weird. This," she made a circle with her hand, suggesting her and Ricky standing this close together and talking, ,,is weird."

,,Can I give you a hug?"

,,What?"

,,Can I hug you? Maybe it will make it hurt less?"

,,I mean, we can try it?"

Ricky pulled her in for a hug, making it as tight as he could without making her uncomfortable. They rested their heads on each others' shoulders with their eyes closed and stayed in that position for a moment.

,,Ricky! Gina! We're here to rehearse the show, not to cuddle!" miss Jenn woke them up from their own little fantasy world. They jumped away from each other, but they were still holding each others' arms.

,,Coming!" Ricky yelled, looking into Gina's eyes. They both laughed and then quickly joined the rest of the crew. There he could see Nini's angry look, which was still holding in place. He smiled at her. Nothing could ruin this momentary happiness, not even Nini's anger.

,,Yo, why don't we all go hang out at the Salt Lake Slices? The pizza's on the house." Big Red announced after they finished rehearsals.

,,You had me at free pizza." Kourtney snapped her finger.

,,Kourtney, you work there. You're literally working today."

,,So what, your boss doesn't deserve free pizza?"

Big Red sighed and then everyone laughed.

,,Maybe we should all focus on the play instead. And school. Lots of homework. End of school year is tough, am I right?" Nini chuckled. The crew stopped laughing and started staring at her instead. Why did she just ruin the mood with homework?

,,I think hanging out together and not fighting over who has the best sleepover sounds ideal!" Ricky said while wrapping his arm around Gina, who instantly leaned in with a bright smile. The rest of the crew, apart from Nini, started cheering again. Nini just turned on the spot and stormed off.

"Experiencing some flashbacks yet?" Ricky smirked to himself, savoring having Gina right next to him.
