Forever Here For You (Toni Shalifoe)

G!P Toni and Y/N get pregnant after many months of trying.

Y/N grins as she hears the sound of the lock turning. Her wife, Toni, opens the front door, kicking off her work books. She has just come home from her job as an electrician. Y/N works from home as a children's book illustrator, and has been waiting all day to tell Toni some exciting news: after months of trying, Y/N is finally pregnant.

"Hey babe," Toni grins, crossing the living room and sitting beside her wife on the sofa, pecking her lips.

"Hi Toni. I have some great news," Y/N replies excitedly.

"What is it, love?" Toni questions.

"I'm pregnant," Y/N tells her.

"Oh my god! We're going to be moms?" Toni exclaims.

"We are," Y/N confirms.

Toni kisses her wife lovingly. Y/N can't help but tear up as Toni lifts her shirt up and begins to talk to her belly, promising the baby that they will always love it and be there for it. The short brunette notices Y/N's teary eyes, and frowns worriedly.

"What's wrong, Y/N/N?" Toni asks.

"Nothing, Toni. I'm just so happy that this is happening," Y/N replies.

"Me too, babe, me too,"

Nine months have passed and Y/N is due any day. They are unsure if it is a boy or a girl, as they decided that it should be a surprise. Y/N awakens on a Sunday morning to an empty bed. Frowning, she uses the bathroom before heading downstairs in search of her wife. She finds Toni on the sofa, crying softly.

"Toni, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Y/N asks, crossing the room to sit beside her wife.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I'm just worried I'm going to turn out like my mom," Toni admits. Toni's mom put drugs over her daughter time and time again, and turning out just like her mother has always been Toni's greatest fear.

"Oh, love. You are one of the most loving people I know. You already love this baby so much, and I know there is no way you will turn out like your mother," Y/N assures her.

"Promise?" Toni replies.

"I promise," Y/N nods, kissing Toni softly.

Toni smiles against her wife's lips. Despite her worries, she is very excited to be a mother, and cannot wait for their baby to be born.

Harvey Zane Y/L/N-Shalifoe is born the very next day. He has Y/N's Y/E/C eyes and Y/H/C hair, but his skin tone is Toni's tan. His nose, lips, and ears are also pure Toni. Toni watches as Y/N cradles their newborn son, wrapped in a blue blanket, in her arms.

"He's perfect," Y/N whispers.

"Yeah, he is. I can't get over how tiny he is," Toni replies, placing a kiss to her wife's forehead.

"Do you want to hold him?" Y/N asks.

"Yes, but I don't want to drop him," Toni admits sheepishly.

"You won't. Here. Come sit beside me," Y/N tells Toni.

Toni sits beside Y/N on the bed. Carefully, Y/N places Harvey into Toni's arms. Toni makes sure to support her son's head, a smile crossing her face as he wraps his little hand around her finger. As she stares down at him, she makes a silent promise to him and to herself that she will never, ever be like her mother, and will forever be there for her little bundle.
