Injured (Maya/Carina/Y/N)

Y/N comes into Grey Sloan injured from a fire (she is a firefighter at a different station than Maya's). Carina and Maya freak out.

"Maya, hey. Station 10 just called. I don't want you to freak out, but Y/N's been hurt pretty badly. She's on her way to Grey Sloan and they thought they would let you know," Andy tells her best friend/captain. 

"What? What happened? She said she was on desk duty today," Maya asks anxiously. 

"They had an all hands on deck fire. A beam fell on top of her. Let me drive you to the hospital. You're shaking," Andy replies.

"Oh god. Okay, okay. Let's go," Maya agrees.

As Andy drives, Maya stares blankly out the window. Thoughts swim through her mind like minnows. Y/N could be bleeding out on an operating table as they drive, or worse, she could already be dead. Maya shudders at the thought. 

Finally, they arrive at the hospital. Maya hops out of the car right as it comes to a stop and rushes into the ER. She finds Carina sitting in the waiting room. Amelia Shepherd, a friend of Carina's, is sitting by her side, arm around the doctor's shoulders. The moment Carina sees Maya, she stands up and runs into her arms. Maya holds the Italian as she sobs.

"Shh, love. It's going to be alright," Maya whispers softly, rubbing Carina's back in an attempt to calm her.

 Carina's sobs quiet eventually. She remains in Maya's arms, however, sniffling softly. Maya guides her to a chair and sits with Carina in her lap. 

"Amelia, can you please tell me what's wrong with Y/N?" Maya questions as she turns towards the brain surgeon.

"A beam fell on her. Her right arm is broken pretty badly. There's lots of internal organ damage to her kidneys, liver, and spleen. CT is clean thanks to the helmet. She's in surgery right now and is in the best hands," Amelia explains.

Maya nods sadly. She notices Carina has fallen asleep in her arms, exhausted from crying. She readjusts the Italian so that her head is resting on Maya's shoulder. Maya just sits and waits, knowing she can't do anything to help save Y/N, which kills her inside.

Hours later, Maya and Carina finally find out that their girlfriend is going to be okay. She will need to take it easy for a few weeks, and now doesn't have a spleen, but she is going to be okay, and that's the most important thing. They are allowed into Y/N's room and sit beside her, waiting for their lover to wake up.

"Fucking hell," Y/N groans as she opens her Y/E/C eyes after what seems like an eternity to her girlfriends, "It feels like I got hit by a truck."

"Shhh. Lay still, bella. You've just had major surgery," Carina coos.

"You scared the crap out of us, babe," Maya sighs, stroking Y/N's hair out of her eyes.

"My bad. What happened? I don't really remember anything but tons of smoke," Y/N questions.

"A beam fell on you. Your spleen is gone and Dr. Grey repaired your organ damage. Your arm is broken," Carina explains.

"Oh. Well, that sucks," Y/N chuckles in an attempt to make her girlfriends laugh.

"Not funny, Y/N! We thought we had lost you," Maya scolds.

"Hey, I'm going to be alright. I'm so sorry I scared you. I love you two so much," Y/N soothes.

"We love you too. Now, rest up," Carina orders, kissing Y/N's forehead.

"Yes, Dr. Deluca," Y/N replies.

Y/N soon falls asleep. As her eyes close, she thanks her lucky stars that she is alright. After all, she wants to enjoy the rest of her life with her amazing girlfriends, and a single beam won't get in the way of that.
