*BEEEP! BEEEP!*

Mona's eyes shot open. What the hell?

She looked next to her to see a sleeping Scaramouche with his back up against the wall next to the window. Did they FALL ASLEEP TOGETHER? Nope! Pull yourself together Mona.

She slowly slid out of bed and checked her alarm clock.

3:06 A.M

3 in the morning? Why was her alarm clocking going off so early? Well, she sets the time for it, so what could have possibly compelled her to set it up for 3 A.M on a random Wednesday morning?

Mona thought for a moment, digging deep in her brain.

"OH SHIT!" She yelps.

Tonight was the once in a lifetime meteor shower! Mona foresaw it months ago and set her alarm clock to wake her tonight last week! She would NOT be missing this.

She jumped on the bed and repeatedly shook Scaramouches shoulders intill his eyes fluttered open. "Mona... w-" Scaramouche spoke in perhaps the deepest morning voice she had ever heard. "NO TIME! Get up get up get up!!" She yanked Scaramouche out of bed.

Mona raced over to her dresser and yanked out some worn out winter jackets and hats. She tossed a pair over to Scaramouche. "Put it on!" Mona hissed. "Mona, I really don't unders-" "PUT IT ON!" Mona shouted. "Okay okay..." Scaramouche spoke sleepily. She dragged him over to the door and put on boots, while he slipped on his sandals.

The pair wore black winter jackets and gray and blue beanies with puffs at the end, but their pink and blue onesies still layed underneath.

Mona dragged Scaramouche out the door by the wrist, stopping in the area in front of Mona's house. The cold winter breeze blew and the streetlights and the moonlight being to only things illuminating the street. Mona shivered at the wind as it started to wake Scaramouche up more. His former half lidded eyes became wider and he shook his head to adjust. The sky became lighter for a split second. "Oh shoot! It's about to start! We're not gonna have enough time to make it up there, so guess I'll have to do this." Mona sighed. "Do wha-a-A!" Scaramouches sentence was interrupted but the sudden shaking of the ground beneath him. Moan gripped his hands as her eyes were glued shut concentrating. In a flash the fell though a water portal in the ground and re appeared on the head of the Barbatos statue in Mondstat.

Mona opened her eyes and stumbled a bit as Scaramouche stood still from shock. "What was that!?" Scaramouche asked. "I teleported, bozo." Mona slummed. "Yeah well I got that part! I meant how you looked so shaken up afterwards. You pulled this stunt last week with that bird girl and that traveler and the weird floating thing. Then you had no trouble at all." He pointed out. "Well it's easier when I'm fearing for my life and am focused on nothing more than the spell, plus getting a goods night rest helps." Mona replied. Scaramouche paused and started at Mona with a surprised and worried expression. "Did you really fear for your life when I showed up and you realized I was a Fatui Harbinger?" Scaramouche questioned. Mona glanced at him but ignored the question. Scaramouche knew people feared him, and they had every right too, but an innocent person simply fearing for their life at just the sight of him? It made his stomach  turn.

Mona waved her had materializing a checkered navy and white picnic blanket. She flipped in in the breeze laying it on top on the statue. She sat down and pat the ground next to her signaling fir Scaramouche to join her. Looking around Mondstat multiple citizens sat on top of their roofs with binoculars and snacks. "So you finally wanna tell me why we're up here on top of a statue at 3 in the morning?" An annoyed Scaramouche looked at Mona. "Tonight's a once in a lifetime meteor shower. It's visible only over Mondstat and part of Liyue and won't happen again for thousands of years! Mona said staring at the night sky, eyes twinkling. Scaramouche couldn't  help but it smile at this. The cold wind blew and Scaramouche and Mona both pulled up their fuzzy hoods to protect themselves from the cold. December was approaching and nights were freezing.

"I'm excited for the coming weeks." Mona said, glancing at Scaramouche. "And why might that be?" He asked. "Once winter breaks starts, everyone will be out seating for presents for the holidays, which means TONS of customers." Mona excitedly said. "Well, with those bags of mora on your tables that means you can take a little break, right?" Scaramouche smirked. "Oh right! I suppose so." Mona giggled.

"I don't think I've thanked you enough for that, it really does mean everything to me." Mona smiled softly at him. "It's really nothing... you don't have to thank me, see it as a thanks." He replied. "Thanks? For what?" Mona chuckled. "For helping me smile. Even though we've only barely met I don't think anyone has ever been able to make me smile as much as you do." He admitted smiling at her.

The two started at each other for a moment, never taking their eyes of the others. When just then, a flash lit up the sky, as raining streaks in the sky barreled down. "It's starting!!!" Mona said excitedly rocking back and forth in her seat. Scaramouche stretched his legs out infront of him, leaning back and putting his arms behind himself to support his body.

"You know Scaramouche?" Mona said, not taking her eyes off the sky. "Hm?" He hummed. "I don't think I've smiled this much for awhile either. The past months have been tough keeping up with rent and expenses, I haven't really gotten to many breaks to just hang out... with a friend..." She smiled softly looking at him.

Just then, a spark seemed to light in both of them. Even with the meteor shower going on in the corners of their eyes, all they could look at was eachother. They sky twinkled as the stars rained down, and in reflected in both of their dark mysterious eyes.

Without even thinking, as perhaps the biggest meteor of the night barreled down, just as it exploded,  bursting into a fabulous light show lighting to whole sky, the gap between them closed, as their lips connected.
