Brooke's POV
I wake still resting against Chap, I hope he understands my feelings for him. I know he probably hasn't really seen me in a morning so I try to put everything back without waking him. "Need any help there?" he asks as he watches me attempt to get my shoulder back in. I nod as he places his hands on my shoulder and helps me pull it back properly. I force my eyes to stay open as he looks concerned. "Okay? Just sit for a while." I nod slowly but try to sit up. "We have a while yet. I want to rest." He smiles as I lay back again. I turn to face him and find his face pale. He tries to take my hand but his are shaking too much.
"Chap.. What's going on?" He shakes his head.
"I'm okay."
"You're staying here. Who can I call?" He shakes his head and tries to sit up.
"I need to come with you." He forces himself to his feet but falls to the floor. I don't know what's going on. I pull myself to the floor next to him as I call Whip. "Can you get here? He's really not well.."
"What? Brooke, what's happened?"
"He was pale and shaky and then he tried to stand. Now he's just laying on the floor.."
"Okay. I'll come down in a minute, he's still breathing right?"
"Yeah, he's just passed out on the floor." I hang up and turn back to Chap. "Hey Chap. Can you wake up for me? We need to know what's wrong." He looks so scared. I move his hair from his face carefully as his eyes open. "Sorry. I need you to tell me what you're actually feeling."
"I'm okay." He pulls himself up so he's sitting against the bed, next to me. He lifts my hand in both of his. "I'm going to be fine."
"Whippet's coming, you can't lie to him."
"I'm not, I'm okay." His eyes start to flicker and I shake my head.
"I'm calling the hospital if you don't start talking Chap. You're scaring me." I watch his panic at my words.
"It's just a fever. I am fine." I sigh and turn his hand over, taking his pulse.
"Every part of your body says otherwise."
"Don't panic. I just have a weird reaction to fevers. I'm freezing, my brain feels like it's going to climb out of my skull, my whole body is aching as if I've just run 10 consecutive marathons, I can't keep my eyes open, the light is so painful.." he trails off as his eyes shut.
"Chap.. I need you to stay with me till Whip gets here." His whole body feels like it's on fire as I try to wake him again. There's a knock at the door before Whip lets himself in.
"Hey," he sighs, "Relax Brooke. It's a completely normal illness. And it's Chap, he'll be fine." I nod and recount his list of symptoms. "You've got yourself worse than usual." he tells Chap as his eyes open again. "Think you can stand enough to get back to bed?" He nods and Whip helps him up before he climbs back into bed. I stand up too.
"I'm sorry." Chap says looking directly at me.
"Not your fault. We can look after you now." He shakes his head.
"You need to go to the appointment. Take Whip with you. I'll be okay. I'm just gonna sleep." I look to Whip who nods.
"Okay.. You want anything before we go?" I ask cautiously as Whip brings a glass of water and some tablets. Chap smiles and sits up, taking my hand.
"Good luck. I love you."
"Okay, we'll be back soon. Take care. Call someone if you need." I follow Whip outside, shutting the door carefully. "You need to get someone to come to check on him." I say.
"He's fine Brooke. I'll text one of the guys later but he really does just need to sleep. Are you okay with me coming to the appointment?"
"You can sit outside, I know none of you trust me to actually go on my own. Are you going to sing with me in the car?" I ask as he laughs and leads me to his car.
"If you've got Chap singing then you've done well. Seriously though don't worry about him he'll be fine soon enough. Now how do you feel about the appointment, really?"
"Not too bad. Until they tell me I need the op it's fine. My body almost certainly won't cope well with an op, especially one like that."
"They might not say that.." I laugh incredulously.
"You've seen the state of my heart, there's not much else for them to do."
"Well it's not like they're going to do it today anyway. We'll see." I laugh at his concern.
"Relax. Disney is always good for being calm." I put the CD in and he grins as 'Let it go' comes on. He definitely can't sing like Chap can and I miss him, even though I only saw him a few minutes ago. As we arrive Whip turns to me. "Where do you want me?"
"I can't do it.." He looks concerned.
"Then I'm coming in. I know I'm not Chap but we can pretend. Take it slow and don't panic. They won't do anything today." I climb out of the car as Whip comes round. "Seriously, relax. They can't do anything if you don't let them." I lay my head against him as he wraps his arms around me. I can feel him laughing slightly. "Good pretending that I'm Chap." he teases.
"Nope, you can't sing like him." He grins as we walk towards the doors. He goes to the desk as I stand in the centre of the room, panicked. I could leave now. They would never need to see me again. Before I can act, Whip is back.
"Take a seat." he says, obviously concerned.
"You can go.." he shakes his head.
"Chap wouldn't leave so I won't either." I laugh slightly.
"Miss Brooke Monroe?" A nurse steps out. "Hello, just your height and weight first." she smiles as she leads me through to a small room. She measures my height then I sit on a chair which weighs me. "Almost perfect! Height 5 6 and weight 10 stone 9." She smiles and leads me back to the waiting room. Whip grins. "See nothing to worry about."
"Yeah.."
"Miss Brooke Monroe?" A doctor comes to the door.
"Relax Brooke. Do you want me there?" I nod slowly, I can't deny what they say if he's there. "Alright, just keep calm." He helps me up as we walk into the office.
