rodrick was on top of the world. he had never felt this type of happiness in his life, well except for when he plays with loaded diper but even then, giselle always made him feel like the luckiest guy on planet earth.
he knew dating giselle would come with its obstacles, like mrs aoki's protective ways, but he respected that. rodrick had absolutely zero malice intent towards giselle and he would never do anything to make mrs aoki think otherwise.
giselle was her usual self, independent and hardworking. for the summer, she'd already taken up babysitting jobs to earn some money and was still currently looking for other places hiring part time for the holidays.
rodrick knew this would take up a bit of their time together, but he didn't care. he made sure he always made time for her and she did the same for him.
it's been nothing but bliss for the two.
"heya aoki!" jerry exclaimed as giselle approached both rodrick and him.
they were currently at berry's ice cream parlour, which had become their usual summer hangout spot. they used to lounge around at the 7/11 parking lot, until the security guards chased them off when jerry lit up a dozen firecrackers at once.
"hello boys," giselle replied, waving at the two of them before settling next to rodrick who awkwardly wrapped his arm around giselle's shoulders.
despite the fact that they'd been dating for two months now, it didn't necessarily make them less awkward overnight. they were usually more comfortable when they were alone, but when it came to PDA they usually froze like idiots and forgot how to act like a couple.
"hi," rodrick said, a shy grin plastering on his face.
giselle shook her head, feeling her cheeks heat up. "hi."
jerry stepped back from leaning on the loaded diper van and stared at the couple in front of him. he furrowed his brows at them, letting out a playful eye roll.
"are you two serious right now?" he chuckled. "you're really acting all shy on each other!"
rodrick flipped him off as he laughed lightly. "fuck off jerry, i have my arm around her!"
giselle fidgeted, moving closer to rodrick who squeezed her shoulder lightly.
"oh whatever!" he laughed, turning his back on them. "i'm not looking! so whatever you wanna do, do it now!"
giselle's eyes popped out in surprise, laughing at how hilarious this situation was. she did feel slightly more comfy that jerry wasn't looking at what they were doing. she looked up at rodrick who was already looking back at her.
he had begun to lean in, stopping for a second to make sure she was okay as she nodded in response. he smiled before planting his soft lips onto hers. their lips moved in sync instantly as giselle latched her hands around his shoulders and rodrick wrapped his arms around her waist.
each kiss felt perfect and giselle would get nothing but butterflies.
"are you done?" jerry yelled out, causing the two to break apart.
"uh, uhm yeah," rodrick let out as they both jumped away from one another.
giselle laughed still flushed with red. she couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed as she buried her face in rodrick's chest before jerry could say anything.
"finally," jerry groaned. "you two amaze me."
"and you annoy us," rodrick added.
"hey! i'm trying to make sure no teenage pregnancies happen this summer." jerry shrugged. "you should see what i do to ben and zara."
•••••••••••••••••••••
it was almost sunset, the sky was painted a dark orange and it looked absolutely beautiful. jerry had ended up leaving the ice cream parlour earlier than expected, leaving rodrick and giselle alone. they'd decided to spend their remaining hours with one another at the plainview peak which had the most prettiest view of city.
they laid on the roof of the van with giselle's head on rodrick's chest while he kept his arm around her protectively. they liked moments like this, it was peaceful and quiet and they'd never felt more comfortable with one another. all they could hear was the slight sounds of the cars, the summer wind and the melodies of an old song from one of giselle's playlists.
"remember when ben and zara ran up the peak to tell us about bill?" giselle recalled.
rodrick chuckled, feeling himself cringe remembering bill walter. "he was an asshole."
giselle laughed lightly, nodding her head in agreement. she looked up at rodrick watching his face and taking in how he looked by a sunset setting. "what?" he asked, a small smile forming on his face.
"nothing." she smiled. "i just wanted to look at you."
rodrick grinned, pulling her closer in his arms. "you stole my line."
"whatever," she chuckled.
the stayed put for a few minutes, just taking in the time they spent together with no one to disrupt them. it was hard enough for them to get alone time, considering mrs aoki always had giselle run errands with her or she'd have babysitting jobs. but when they did find some time to be alone like this, it always felt like time was stopping for them.
"what time is it?" giselle asked.
"almost 8pm."
giselle sighed, "damn, i have to get home soon. curfew's at 9pm."
rodrick felt his heart sink a little, but he was used to it. he knew how important curfews were in her house, especially after the whole party incident. "alright, i'll drop you home."
"i'm really sorry," giselle said, shooting him a solemn look.
"gi, it's fine," rodrick reassured. "we can see each other on wednesday?"
"well i have to babysit on wednesday," giselle mentioned, feeling her pulse slowly rise. she was worried rodrick would get upset and that was the last thing she wanted.
but unsurprisingly, rodrick didn't seem bothered and continued to ponder for an alternative day they could meet. "thursday?"
"i'm sure thursday could work," giselle shrugged. "my mom wanted me to start taking driving lessons, but she was gonna ask my cousin to teach me and he hasn't got back to her yet."
rodrick lit up as another idea popped into his head. "holy shit! i can teach you!"
giselle smiled, nodding her head excitedly. "i'll talk to her bout it tonight."
oh boy.
