A light drizzle engulfed the town, causing the usually bustling streets to be mostly deserted. A few children could be seen playing beneath the rain, but they were immediately yanked inside by their parents when the sprinkle grew into a torrential downpour.
Listening to the droplets of rain crash against the roof of our newly acquired home, I watched the storm rage on with an unbefitting sense of comfort. I sat in between Giyu's legs, which were extended into the kotatsu.
Despite the roaring thunder and large raindrops falling right above our heads, he was still able to doze off. He rested his chin on top of my head while his hands were still on top of the table. A half-peeled mandarin orange rolled off to the edge of the kotatsu, eventually falling onto the floor. The citric fruit fell onto his dog's head, awakening the dozing creature.
We were relaxing in one of the many rooms the large house had to offer. While searching for homes, Giyu insisted on purchasing a home with at least 3 rooms. I was initially confused as to why he wanted multiple rooms, as his previous dwelling was literally a shack with two rooms.
However, after noticing his meekness whenever I question him about his insistence, I could tell that he wanted multiple rooms for our future children. He would always get flustered or go silent when anyone asked about his preference.
Despite his blatantly obvious behavior, Giyu was still under the impression that nobody, including myself, had any idea as to why he wanted to have at least 3 separate bedrooms. Even after we had bought a house that he deemed suitable for family life, I would frequently question him about his decision simply to watch his innocent reaction.
And without fail, he would react in the same, innocent manner each time while dodging the question. He would either try to divert the conversation or simply not respond, all the while sporting bright pink cheeks and ears.

Turning my head slightly, I glanced out the window to see if the weather had gotten any better, which it didn't. Despite the fact that I already knew the weather didn't clear up due to the occasional cracks of thunder and the pellets of rain that still bombarded the roof, I still groaned in disappointment after the scenery confirmed what I had already known.
Normally I wouldn't have minded being cooped up inside with Giyu, but he was asleep after we had spent the whole night going at it. Deciding that the boredom was intolerable, I reached up to pinch one of his cheeks. Getting a solid grip on his cheek, I thrashed it around until he finally woke up in a shock.
Lifting his chin from the top of my head, Giyu stretched his arms out as a low yawn escaped his mouth. He rubbed his eyes leisurely as I crawled my way off of his lap to position myself beside him. As he let out another long yawn, I deemed it to be a perfect time while his guard was down to ask Giyu why exactly he wanted 4 rooms.
Although I already knew the real reasoning behind his choice, it was still worth something to hear it out of his mouth and melodic voice.
"Ahem," I coughed into a balled-up hand to grab Giyu attention. Turning around languidly, he stared at me with half-lidded eyes. No matter how many times I would see it, the allurement of his ice-cold eyes never failed to amaze me, leaving my body tingling every time we would make eye contact.
Holding back my desire to eat him whole, I went onto step two of my original plan- actually asking him the question.
Grabbing ahold of one of his arms, I finally began to speak. "Giyu, why is it that we bought this house? I love it and all... but why did you insist on having multiple rooms if it's just the two of us?"
Looking up at his face to indulge in his flustered reaction, I was shocked to see that there wasn't even the slightest bit of color on his cheeks. Before, even when I hinted at the topic, there was never a time where a deep crimson didn't fill his cheeks.
Giyu simply looked at me blankly for a few seconds, before letting an amused smile from across his face. With the arm I wasn't holding, he brushed a strand of hair from my face behind my ear.
"You already know why... don't you?" He whispered against my neck, his breath burning against my sensitive skin. Shaking me off from his arm, he grabbed my wrists before pushing me onto the floor.
Giyu looked down at me for a second as his breathing became more labored, before he promptly fell down onto my chest. I strained my neck to look down at him to see what he was doing, but it seemed that he had fallen asleep. Removing one of my arms from his now slightly loosened-up grip, I felt his forehead, which expectedly was burning hot.
"You idiot."

"Ugh..." I groaned as I rubbed my pounding head to subdue the pain.
"Look at who's awake?" Shinobu chimed as she looked down upon me. My head was lying on her lap while the bottom half of my body was beneath the kotatsu. I closed my eyes I tried to remember how I got into this position, but all I could recall was falling asleep while Shinobu sat in my lap.
Noticing my puzzled look, she giggled as she explained to me what had happened. Apparently, I had woken up randomly from my nap with a fever, so she set me down on her lap and lulled me to sleep.
"Now, aren't you glad that you have a wife as great as me? What would you do without me? You better hope that you meet me in your next life too, or you'll be completely hopeless." She casually insulted me as she ran her dainty fingers through my hair.
"I'm very glad we met... but why talk about our next lives when we have yet to live this one out?"
"Hmmm, I suppose you're right every once in a while, Giyu."

ALSO IF YOU ENJOYED THIS STORY READ MY NEXT ONE!!!!!
it's pretty ironic how i ended this story with them finally enjoying their lives without thinking about the future, but in the chapter I already wrote, it's about them in modern day, except that I wrote it in 3rd person. SO GO CHECK IT OUT!!!
i might give one finaly epilogue a little while later, but this is it for now :) thank you all for reading, and check out my other work!
