My right arm stopped the demon's blow from connecting with Kocho, shattering in the process. I ready my sword with my left hand, my right arm hanging limp after the attack. "Were you the other bug that was killing my soldiers?" Shaking his left hand, he took a martial arts stance. He smiled wildly, a false sense of confidence hidden behind it. "It seems that luck is on my side today. If I get to eat both of you, I'll be able to survive the poison that idiot injected into me."

I turned my head briefly to find Kocho slumped over on a tree. 'She must have been exhausted from exterminating all of the minions and fighting this bastard.' Looking back, the demon's fist was only inches away from my face. Swerving my neck abruptly, I barely dodged the punch. Simultaneously,  I raised my sword, aiming for his heart. Right as the tip of my blade pierced his tough skin, he pulled back, kicking me in the process.

"You're stronger than I thought. Are you also one of those dumbass Pillars or whatever you call them?" He sneered as he took the same stance as before. "It seems that you can dodge one punch, but what about a barrage?" He pounced, closing the gap between us even faster than before.

"Water Breathing Eleventh Form: Dead Calm." I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath. As I countered every single one of his punches, he desperately turned to kicks and scratches, but none of his movements were fast enough to get to me. I opened my eyes to counter-attack. "Water Breathing Sixth Form: Whirlpool."

I quickly spun around to give my blade enough momentum to slice his head off of his neck. Digging my feet into the soft Earth, I generated a substantial amount of speed. 'Crap. With only one hand, I don't know I can generate enough power to cut his head off.' Hoping for the best, I let my blade connect with the demon's neck, my left arm practically about to explode from the pressure applied to it.

To my surprise, his head came off pretty easily, ooze flowing out of his acephalous body. 'I guess Kocho's poison did a number on him.' Silently, I sheathed my blade and bent over to pick up Kocho's unconscious body to take her to safety.

The first thing I was met with when I woke up was Tomioka's face. Or what I assumed to be Tomioka. Too exhausted to open my eyes or mouth, I simply stayed slumped over on a tree when I felt his hand under my legs.

"Oh my... this pig... is he making a move on an unconscious woman? I didn't know he was so scummy...' My thoughts were interrupted as he picked me up. 'Is this what they call the bridal carry? Tomioka is... he's sweeter than I thought.' Once again, he broke my expectations by throwing me over his shoulder.

"Hey you bastard. Do you think this is the proper way to hold a lady?" Mustering all of my strength, I asked him my question with the kindest tone possible, only to be met with silence. After walking for roughly thirty minutes, he finally responded.

"My right arm was completely shattered after I took the demon's blow for you. Also, could you really call yourself a lady?" He chuckled softly before reverting to complete silence. 'What happened to Tomioka? He spoke more than one sentence, made a snarky remark, and laughed? He must be completely exhausted for him to break character.'

"Oh my, is the stoic Tomioka finally breaking his shell? Is he? Is he?" I poked him on the back with the little energy I had all the way until we reached the inn we had previously stayed at before. When we entered our room, the sun had already begun to spread its light across the land. Immediately, Tomioka passed out on the floor, dropping me in the process. Still too exhausted to move, I laid down on the floor, drowsiness eventually getting the better of me.

When I woke up, I found myself inside my  futon, inside of my personal room. I looked to my left to see Mitsuri kneeling beside my bed. Suddenly remembering my outburst from before, I immediately apologized. "I just wanted to say that I'm sorry for yelling at you that one time." Upon hearing my response, she merely laughed.

"You come back from a near-death situation and that's the first thing you mention? I already know you didn't mean it." She pinched my cheeks and moved them around as she egged me on to tell her what had happened. As I got to the part when Tomioka blocked the blow for me, she squealed and pinched my cheeks even harder.

On a sudden impulse, I suddenly blurted out, "There was an inn-keeper who flirted with Tomioka and for some reason, I felt strangely jealous, angry, and upset." Mitsuri let go of my cheeks and took one of my hands.

"That's because you're in love." She told me with a solemn tone, a total contrast her usual bubbly personality. We stayed like that for a while before she stood up and reverted to her usual self. "Anyways, Tomioka went back to his house after Aoi treated his arm. You should go check up on him. I'll get out of your hair now!"

'His home... didn't he say he was living with a girl now?' I buried my face into my pillow and screamed. "I'll go check up on him and see who this girl he's living with is. He better not be lying to me." Steeling my resolve, I mentally prepared myself to visit his home the next day, resting and catching up with everyone at the Butterfly Estate today.

LOLOLOLOLOL THANK YOU ALL FOR 1K READS! I LOVE YOU ALL AND REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

On a more serious note, I have to thank each and every one of you who have given my very mediocre fan fiction a read. I remember when I first published my first chapter on July 25th and only got 13 reads. Since online school started, I decided to upload more often since I'll feel more productive after classes. I'll try my best, but I can't make too many promises. Also, I appologize for this short chapter, I felt like it ended in a good spot Anyways, time to celebrate for 1,000 reads!
