First and foremost, I would like to thank sister  (chapter dedicated to her) as she has written an entirre chapter on the benefits of reciting surah Kahf in her book, "Pearls of Al-Qur'an". So I stronly encourage you all to check out her book. Jazakallah khair sis.

My Reflections:

1)The surat has 110 verses, over 1500 words and over 6000 hurufs; thus minimum reward for reciting this surah is 60,000 good deeds. Recitation of this surah can bring lots of reward since its a sunnah to recite this every Friday. "Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu'ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next." (hadith).

2)From verse 1 we can learn names and attributes of Allah swt to know who Allah is, come closer to Him and gain reward. Also can use those names when making du'aa and calling upon Allah swt.

3)In verse 10 there is  a du'aa. When we want Allah's mercy and right guidance, make the du'aa that the youths from the cave did in verse 10.

4)From verse 13 we learn not to waste our youth. We can take a lesson from the companions of the cave. These men were youths and they did not waste their youths. They decided to go out in Allah's way and run away, firmly believing in tawhid. Likewise we should hold firm to our Islam and ignore what our immodest and deteriorating society throws at us.

5)These youths Allah swt helped them in guidance and ability because they trusted upon Allah swt and strove in Allah swt's way. When want to be guided and we act upon our knowledge, Allah swt will help us.

6)From verse 14: we tend to take matters of the deen very lightly and we fear people and forget about the serious consequences in the hereafter. The reality is you won't fear people if firmly believe in Allah swt and what is right.

It's been a weekly routine for us to recite Surah Kahf every Friday right? and we do it in most of the Fridays. Now, have you ever wondered why Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) asked us to recite Surah Kahf every Friday?? Or is there any preference for this surah over the rest 113 surahs???or what's the benefit of reciting this weekly??

Lets check it out-

First of all,in this surah Allah says to us 4 different INTERESTING stories! Lets explore each along the lessons we get from each of them....

1."The people of the cave"

It's the story of young men who lived in a disbelieving town, so they decided to migrate for the sake of Allah and run away. Allah rewards them with mercy in the cave and protection from the sun.

The lesson of this story is the 'Trial of Faith'❗

2. "The owner of two gardens"

A story of a man whom Allah blessed with two beautiful gardens, but the man forgot to thank the one who blessed him with everything and he even dared to doubt Allah regarding the afterlife. So his garden was destroyed - he regretted, but was too late and his regret did not benefit him.

Lesson of this story:

'Trial of wealth'❗

3. "Musa(as) and Khidr (as)"

When Musa (as)was asked "who's the most knowledgeable of the people of Earth?" Musa (as) said that it was him as he assumed he was the only prophet on Earth at the time. But Allah revealed to him that there's someone who knows more than him about certain things. Musa (as)traveled looking for him learned how divine wisdom can sometimes be hidden in matters which we perceive as bad.

And Lesson of this story:

'Trial of knowledge'❗

And now to the FINAL one,it's somewhat to GLOBAL,

4. "Dhul-Qarnayn"

Allah mentions the story of a great king who was given knowledge and power travelling the world helping people and spreading all that's good. He was able to overcome the problem of Yajooj-Majooj by building a massive dam with the help of people whom he could not even understand.

Lesson of this story:

'Trial of power'❗

ALLAH says to us 4 kind of stories relating 4 kind of trials that WE ALL pass by in our day to day lives!

Now Let's have a look through HADITHS too what it says about this surah....

In many hadith, the messenger of Allah (pbuh) mentions that the one who reads and memorised verses of Surah Al Kahf will be protected from the trials of the Dajjal!

NOW,why this surah??

Whats the relation with SURAH KAHF and DAJJAL???

The Answer is simple...

Dajjal will appear before the day of judgement with 4 trials:

A) He will ask people to worship him and not Allah: Trial of faith

B) He will be given powers to start/stop rain and tempt people with his wealth: Trial of with his wealth

C) He will trial people with the "knowledge" and news he gives them: Trial of knowledge.

D) He will control huge parts of the Earth: Trial of power

NOW JUST TAKE A MOMENT AND SAY 'SUBHANALLAH'!!!!!

Now, don't u feel it irony when Allah just ends up this surah just speaking about the trials and all...dont u want a SOLUTION for those trials??? Of course we need, and ALLAH knows our need!!!so He tells us the solution too before ending up this surah...let me just point out them with their AYAH NUMBERS so that you can look for those meanings of AYAHS...
