Continuation From Last Time...

"wait, what?!" I said hoping I just heard this man wrong.

"I said congratulations, your gonna be a father" he said smiling.

"mhmm, like I told you" Shontelle smiled.

"b-b, uh, ar-are you sure, I mean like 100% positive that she's pregnant, carrying a real growing fetus"

He chuckled. "yes, I am" he said turning to Shontelle putting the transducer on her stomach again. "you see that little image on the screen right there" he said pointing. "that's the baby, and that's the heart, you can hear it for yourself if you want to" he said holding out the stethoscope for me. (the thing you use to hear heartbeats)

"uh nah I'm good, but, uh, is there anyway that you can pinpoint the day the baby was, uh, you know, like, conceived?" I asked needing a little bit more convincing that she's pregnant with my baby, I feel like I'm on an episode of Punk'd.

"Jay really, that is not necessary" Shontelle said sitting up. "this is your baby"

"yo I ain't taking your word for it, I wanna be sure this babys mine before I blow my life up for it, this is serious"

She sighed rolling her eyes. "whatever, go ahead and tell em then doctor, so he can be moded again"

"well yes I can definitely pinpoint the day the baby was conceived which will also give me the due date, just give me a second" he said moving the transducer around her belly again, he kept looking at the little monitor screen. "wow, well this shows that you're actually 12 weeks pregnant, not 9, which means around the month of June was the time of conception, June 21st to be exact was the date, and February 21st is gonna be your due date"

"oh wow, so I'm 12 weeks, that means 3 months right?" She asked.

"yes" he nodded.

I did the math in my head right quick, damn, 3 months ago was June, June 21st was the night we got back together and I had took her to dinner, we had sex that night and I don't remember using protection, sh¡t, she's pregnant with my baby, I can't believe this, I just sat there froze and in a bit of shock, I'm totally f*cked.

"so do you have a OBGYN?" the doctor asked Shontelle.

"No"

"No?, well that's not good, have you at least been to a doctor since you found out you were with child?"

"No, I found out I was pregnant by taking a home pregnancy test with my girls, and I didn't think I had to go to a doctor yet because my stomach is really not that big yet"

"well you should always go to a doctor as soon as you find out your pregnant so that you can have a professional confirmation, and they can make sure that the pregnancy goes well, and the baby is healthy, and make sure you eat good and keep a healthy nutrition, take prenatal pills, and tell you the do's and don'ts while being pregnant, you shouldn't wait till you're huge to go talk to a doctor, that's very unsafe for the baby"

"oh damn, I didn't know, this is my first time being pregnant, well my first time being pregnant and actually planning on carrying and having the child"

"wow, ok, so do you want a OBGYN or midwife, in other words do you want to have your baby in a hospital or have a home birth, you know water birth of something like that"

"oh hospital, definitely a hospital, because I'm going to need lots of epidural"

"well you should start searching for an OBGYN as soon as possible because your 3 months pregnant, and your still in your first trimester, which is the most critical time during the pregnancy, a lot can go wrong if you haven't been taking good care of yourself and the baby, but from what I see the baby's fine, perfectly healthy and everything seems normal, but to be 100% sure you should hire a OBGYN so they can do regular blood work and things like that to make sure the pregnancy goes well"
