Soulmates

Chapter 1

Y/N's POV

   I quickly got dressed for the first day of school. My anxiety rose just thinking about it. Although I've always been a good student, I just can't handle the stress of tests and dead lines for assignments. At least it's my last year. I've waited forever for my senior year. I've always fantasized about my last year with prom, graduation and finally being able to move out and possibly move in with my bf taehyung.

   Taehyung was my childhood best friend. Our moms were best friends in high school so as expected we grew up together. Around sophomore year I had gained feelings for Taehung as i was dead set on him being my soulmate. Our love story was perfect, childhood best friends/high school sweethearts. I've always loved the idea of love and was fascinated by different love tropes portrayed in movies and always wanted a love story of my own to fond over.

   I soon get out of my thoughts as I hear Taehyung's car horn beep and him yelling me to hurry up. I ran out of my empty house as my mother has left early for work. The second I got to Taehyung's car I was greeted with a huge smile and a hug. "Are you excited?" Taehyung asked as I put my seatbelt on. "Don't even start.... I'm so scared to meet my new teachers and classmates". I never clicked with my classmates, they were loud and active while I was on the quieter side. I never cared as I had Taehung and his company was enough for me.

We soon arrived to our new school. I felt the butterflies in my stomach as I saw the welcome sign. Me and Taehyung finally had our schedules and noticed we had none. "At least we have lunch" Ik he was trying to be optimistic but I hated the idea of not having him in any classes in a school full of strangers. "See you at lunch..." I said as I feared to step foot in my classroom.

Once I entered my class I noticed I was the first one here and chose I seat in the middle of the classroom but next to the window. The class soon filled up with students reuniting with their friends happy they have classes together. Lucky. A couple entered the classroom hand in hand being obnoxiously loud. They sat together for most of the class but the teacher soon separated them as they were too loud. He sat the male next to me and I felt myself annoyed as he bothered me all class as he didn't recognize me. I was glad hearing the bell as I quickly gathered my things and ran out the classroom hoping I would see Taehyung in the hallway. I finally found him but noticed he was surrounded by a group of girls asking for his Snapchat. He soon saw me standing there awkwardly and ran to me. He hugged me so tight making sure the group of girls got the message. They soon caught on and walked away embarrassed. The bell soon rung signaling us to go to our next class.

I quickly left Taehyung to look for my next class soon noticing the guy from earlier with his girlfriend. As I walked in I over heard their conversation, "go to class you're almost late".."no I wanna stay with you baby" hearing their pet names made me want to gag. I saw the guy sitting next to me again trying to strike up a new conversation every now and then.

Finally the lunch bell rang. I found myself smiling so excited to see Taehyung so we could talk about our day and how exhausting it is so far. I waited in the cafeteria for him and he was nowhere in sight. There was 5 minutes left of lunch when I finally saw Taehyung. I asked him what took him so long and I noticed his demeanor completely changed. He stopped making eye contact with me and was more quiet than usual. I also found him frantically looking around the room while moving his leg up and down so fast as if he was looking for something.
Or someone.

The bell for dismissal soon rang. I searched for taehyung in the parking lot and i found him staring off into space waiting for me. The ride home was awkward. Taehyung tried his best to talk to me but the conversations soon died down. In our 17 year long friendship I never worried about things being awkward with Taehyung we were so open about our opinions and never had secrets. "So um are you ok you seem so paranoid" I asked looking outside. "I'm fine, just scared about homework".

We soon arrived at my house. Taehyung said goodbye like he does everyday except this time looking guilty as if he committed a crime. I chose not to question his odd behavior as maybe he was stressed about school and work.

   The second I entered my house I went straight home to do my school work. After 1-2 hours of working I got up to make dinner. As my mom works a lot and my dad has gotten sick I took it upon myself to cook. My mom soon came back from work not acknowledging my existence while on the phone with Taehyungs mother ranting about work as my mom hated her coworkers.

   I finally got to rest around 10pm and I texted Taehyung telling him good night as I do every night. It was funny reading at our night messages as he talks like he normally would which puts my mind at ease.
