“Is oke if you don wan...” Hongjoong said looking down and playing with his fingers. He could feel his face getting red and tears building up. He didn't know what was happening with him, but if Seonghwa didn't want to be with him, he knew he was going to start crying.
Unconsciously, his eyes searched for his friend's hand. Seonghwa looked him up and down, unsure of what was going on. When he picked up on where Hongjoong was looking, he offered his hand with a hint of doubt.
The younger looked into his eyes. Seonghwa's were a dark brown, his were black and shiny—Seonghwa didn't remember Hongjoong's eyes being this big.Hongjoong was having a war inside his head, not knowing if he should take his best friend's hand or not. He felt as if two sides of himself were fighting over the control of his body, but when Seonghwa moved his hand a little closer, with the palm facing up ready to be taken, the smaller boy didn't miss a beat.
“Are you okay?” Seonghwa whispered. He got no answer. Hongjoong's face was too red, he felt he would cry if he spoke a word. He just wanted to hear Seonghwa read and hold hands. “You don't want to talk?”
Hongjoong just shook his head, looking down in embarrassment. No words could left his lips.
“Okay, we won't talk...” So on they went. As promised, none said a word, but after two minutes of hand holding and pure silence, Seonghwa's mind couldn't resist it any longer. What was going on?
“Listen up, if you have something to tell me or if you want me gone I can go. I don't know if you have been feeling bad these days or something like that. If you want to, I'm your friend, I'm here for you Hongjoong, you can tell me everything—” His speech was cut by words he didn't understand.
“Sorry?” Seonghwa asked him to repeat what he said, but again, the boy only let out unintelligible whispers. He was trying his hardest, but words came up blurry.
“I couldn't quite catch that... can you say it again?”
“Too 'any wods,” Finally, Hongjoong was able to talk, even when what came out of his mouth was hard to understand and sounded way better on his head.
“Too many words?” The taller asked, the other nodded.
“Too 'any...” He whispered in disappointment. He couldn't understand everything Seonghwa was saying.
Hwa had no fricking idea about what was going on. He didn't know why Hongjoong was acting like that or why he looked like he could break at any moment, but his three younger cousins suddenly came to mind. He got an idea.
“Oh, I see... Those are too many big words, right?” Hongjoong nodded again, never directing his gaze to Seonghwa. Their hands were still locked.
“Then, you can tell me how you feel in other way. No need for words really!” The taller got up for a moment, Hongjoong instantly missing the feeling of his hand and following him with his eyes. Unaware of what he was doing.
