STRANGELY, THE  YEAR THAT WENT BY, FELT LOST.

it was weird to attend the bio class. filled with strangers, your name was now familiar to everyone. when was the first time someone asked for your number? was it the first day you came here?

when was the last? was it this morning?

but among everyone, you only cared about one person's thoughts about you. the boy who sat in front of you, the brown hair that emanated woody incense aroma. probably gucci.

what did he think of you? sometimes he would turn around and look at you, no rather ask you something.

"can i borrow your homework?" he was an absolute asshole.

"sure." you looked at connie that sat next to you, his eyes widened, he opened his mouth to speak. you took your notebook and passed it to his hands. his hands brushed against yours, and weirdly, contradictory to your thought that it must have been an accident, he intentionally tickled your palms with his fingers.

"you NEVER give me your homework." connie's eyebrows were furrowed as he emphasized the words.

"that's only because you stained my pages the last time. was it your cu-"

"imma stop you right there," he looked away again.

"curry chicken, connie. curry chicken." you knew he loved it. he loved spicy things. that was one of the traits you both shared.

"yeah, right. i didn't think of anything else." he ran his hands through his short hair. "i would never think of anything dirt -"

"mr. springer." hange yelled from the front of the room. they had a book in their hands, folded by the joint. it irked you on how they held it. it was wrong in many ways. they would ruin it if they did that.

"care to share your gossip with the rest of the class?" they smiled, innocently. if they were genuinely worried about the 'gossip' he shared or about something else, you would never know.

not possible man, it's very private." he sternly said. you were trying your best not to laugh. concealing your smile, your eyes looked at the boy who sat in front of you. his eyes were planted on your notes. the way his handwriting was small and scrawny, it felt like he was a messy person.

you saw how he didn't care about the ruckus that was going on at that moment. he was remarkably focused on completing the homework.

when you first saw him in your new class, it was kind of awkward. he stole glances at you like a professional and you stole glances at him like an amateur.

"then i would have to remove you from the class for time being. your mother would be very proud of you, no?"

it was very rare. people rarely got in trouble in greensville. rich people made their own rules. but hange never regarded any rules made by the students.

connie's eyes landed on your hair. feeling his eyes on you, you look at him. he looked like he was about to snitch. you shot your eyes at him, warning him not to open his mouth in the wrong way.

"uh, then, y/n wanted to eat my cu- no my curry chicken." the whole class turned their heads your way. it was getting out of your hand. eren looked back his eyes wide. he seemed like he was confused.

"then you can give her some after this class."

"will do." he sat down. you looked at the closed window, the glass clearly showing the pretty colors of the blue sky.

eren passed the book back to you, and without looking at him, you take it from his hand. it would be embarrassing to face him.

connie was not going to live for another day.

"seriously? eat your curry chicken?" this was way too embarrassing. the whole class looked at you both earlier.

"what did you want me to say?"

you slam your locker close. the other lockers vibrated and shook because of the pressure you put out.

"i don't fuckin know mr. springer. talk about your manga collection."

"you act like you don't read them with me." his eyes shone again. for the first time, you wished you never gave him the slam dunk manga. from then on, in addition to his corny jokes, he would talk about how he would soon get akagi's muscles.

you felt a new feeling. you had gotten closer to connie. close enough that one time you accidentally saw his dick, it only took him 3 weeks to forgive you.

he would send you a cursing text every morning in addition to audio where a woman was chanting in spanish. you could never hear the words right even if you tried your best. you disregarded it but when your cat died you were concerned.

but he confessed it was just his hate to you that he translated and sped up. truth or not, it was hard to decide.

well, cora was nearly sixteen. but you could never forgive him nor accuse him.

but it was nothing compared to the tension you felt with that boy. eren.

it had been a year since high school started and you had done anything but make a move. how could you anyway? his bearing was strong and demanding. you feared you would get sucked into a loophole if you stood near him for more than a minute.

but today, it oddly felt good. everything felt good.

"don't smile like that, it's scary."

"fuck off." the girl who only had the balls to talk to connie like that. maybe if eren and you talked more, you would feel free around him.

but even if it was a little bit, you wished you could touch him more, feel him more.

"want to eat some curry chicken?" you didn't even hear connie before that. lost in your thoughts, the only thing you heard were those words.

"will it be your curry chicken?" these days teasing him was your favorite thing. despite his cocky behavior, he had a cute side to him. you wondered if he will get over his shyness one day. he had balls to talk in front of the whole class, but not an ounce of boldness when it came to your jokes, rather explanations.

"you're such a cutie, connie."
