your smile.

do you know how pretty it is? probably not. but armin did. something about the way your eyes scrunched up while you smiled fully. it looked so magical.

something that was so impossible that a mere mortal could not simply just administer that simple movement.

the way your hands would move to your mouth, trying to cover your whole smile, the sweet voice that would emerge from your insides, he knew it all too well.

because he would observe it. observe you.

-

"you got in?" he laughed with you when you held the acceptance letter in your hands. they were all crumbled up due to the excitement forced on them by your fingers.

"thank you professor armin," you lifted the end of your shirt and bowed down to thank him. he laughed and did the same.

"oh, you're most welcome," more than all, he was happy to meet you longer. he was happy, that you were not going away.

"when's your first day?" he took the papers from your hands to read the words. like a parent that was teaching their child to calm down.

"they're really fast at replying," you were amazed how the paper came back within a day after taking the exam.

"we don't have many kids. and they have to be fast because you joined late," he rambled as you started to get annoyed. he always brings logic into everything.

"well, that's that." he folded the crumbled papers neatly and stood up from the chair. you were staring out of the window, the cold air shuddering your insides.

"have you had your first kiss yet?" he asked. when was it that you started thinking this was his normal behavior?

"yes."

"did you like it?" he came close to your figure who sat near the window seat. he looked at you staring outside. he moved in brushing his chest above your head as you moved a bit forward.

he pushed his hands astride you, holding the window bars as you felt his chest behind you.

"look at me when i am talking," he looked down as your head moved up to face him.

"yeah, i liked it."

"do you regret kissing him?"

why did it feel like armin knew everything? it felt like a friend you had known for a long while was talking to you.

"no, if it wasn't for him, i would still be groveling at people's feet."

"what if you -" he wanted to ask what was in his mind the most. but when he noticed you were not even uncomfortable talking about it, he stopped. because it hurt. "you were my first kiss,"

you embrace yourself as the cold wind had stopped.

"i see," you say still looking up at him. you raise your hands to cup his chin. "are you cold? should i make some coffee?"

he smiled, your hands moving a bit with his cheeks. the rhythm of both of your hearts was unified, fast, and uncontrolled. two souls who nearly became one that day.

you get up to move away from his gaze. the one who read you like a book.

well, maybe one day, if you were ever scared to tell him how you felt, then maybe he would look at you and know then.

"i can't wait to come to college," you blurt out to ease the tension. you were his first kiss? why did he carelessly do that?

kiss you when he didn't even fully know that?

but it awfully felt good that your heart hurt.

the smell of fresh ground coffee covered the room which was crammed with silence. the water boiling as you heard nothing but armin's soft breath.

your heartbeats that were going after and faster by each second. for the boy whose eyes were warm as the brightest star, sirius.

much bigger than a mere sun.

always near the moon, never making it feel lonely even when the rest of the stars are tired to shine.

"don't treasure it."

"what?" you turned around when he broke the silence that weighed you down.

"let's both forget about our first kisses," he got up his feet striding faster than your heartbeat. his hands reached out to your chin, pulling it up to meet his face.

his lips slightly skimmed against yours. the kettle released its steam as the two shared a kiss that felt too short.

his tongue entered your mouth, sliding in against your teeth. every single breath captured, you squeeze your hands. your nails digging into your palms.

you should hate it. you should've been reminded of eren. but only, it didn't.

his hands gripped your waist, pressing your skin hard and pulling you in closer than before, trying hard to get into your skin.

tongues touching each other, in your mouth, he huffed out his breath tickling you as it hit the bottom of your nose.

the kettle beeped and turned off. the water still boiling inside, you pulled away first. you breathed heavily, your body trying to cool down.

"forget about that kiss, forget about everything, and think about only this." he planted another small kiss on your cheeks.

you never romanticized your first kiss. till now, since armin was with you you haven't even thought about that man.

funny.

everything you did should have reminded you of him. the library, the flowers in front of your house, even the sun.

but how did it all change? was his presence so heavy that there was no room for anyone else?

maybe that was the first day you realized you had loved armin all along.
