The Subsitute

The next day the pets arrived at school.
Zoe entered gym class shuddering scanning the room for anything or anyone unusual in her surroundings. She then gasped as a new gym teacher came in. She was super revealed Russell's dad got fired. It was Digby! She was shocked and then felt her heart beating loud and racing. Could she like him? No. She liked Russell not Digby. She cleared her throat as Digby walked over to her.
"Zoe, you're lucky to have such a good boyfriend."
"Good b-buh-buh-boyfriend, like who?" Zoe stuttered.
"Russell. He seems to really care about you."
"Why yes. Yes I am lucky," she said confidently. "And he does care. Thank you," Zoe grinned.
Zoe felt like Digby was giving Zoe a slight gaze stare.
She giggled nervously and uncontrollably and slapped herself. Digby's eyes just dilated as he walked away smiling.
"All right ladies, let's get our stretches up."
Once gym class was over Russell Sunil and Vinnie walked out of the locker room. Sunil gasped and saw Zoe and Digby laughing and talking as they went out of the gym. "Dude," Sunil grabbed Vinnie's elbow and carefully pointed towards Zoe and Digby making sure they had no clue they were being watched.
Digby pointed towards Zoe's belly piercing as she just nodded happily, and saw Russell and waved.
Russell noticed Digby with Zoe and just stood there with wide eyes and open mouth.
He felt himself growing hot and red, jealousy? No, no not jealousy. Could it be???!
"Sorry Russell I think Zoe is in love with her new gym coach now," Vinnie told Russell.
"OWWW!" Vinnie yelled in pain when he felt Sunil punch him on his shoulder.
"Sup," Digby approached Russell as Zoe walked alongside him.
"Um h-h-hey," Russell replied.
"I was just telling Zoe how lucky she is to be with such an amazing guy! It's nice that someone is super devoted to taking care of her. I've never seen her so happy before. You're like her knight in shining armor," Digby patted Russell's back.
Zoe turned red and beamed and Russell turned a bright shade of pink and felt his cheeks flush.
"Gee uhhh, thanks!" Russell smiled accepting the compliment. Digby walked away and waved.
"Oh isn't he just magnificent," Zoe gushed, staring at Russell, pulling his cheeks.
Russell's heart suddenly stopped. She liked Digby not him. Sunil and Vinnie exchanged worried glances. Russell's face started to drip with sweat. He felt like a toy that had been used as Zoe walked away. But that was enough.
But little did Russell know Zoe was talking about him not Digby.
