𝗥𝗢𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗠𝗢𝗡𝗥𝗢𝗘'𝗦 𝗣𝗢𝗩

i sat on my bed reading a magazine while lilac was trying to fix her hair

suddenly my mom yells from downstairs, which meant school was going to start soon

me and lilac both groan as i stand up and she puts her brush down on my vanity

"why does school start so early! it's only 7:00!" she complains

"it's like they're trying to torture us" i say as i walk over to my desk and put my magazine down before following lilac out my bedroom door and down the stairs

"hey mom" lilac says to my mom

my mom isn't actually lilac's mom; lilac practically lives here just because her parents are never home and her siblings are either in college or dead

"hey kids" she says

mom also had me when she was just a teenager so she is actually fun to
talk too

my dad was never in my life, him and mom hooked up at some party she wasn't supposed to be at and never saw eachother again, he probably doesn't even know he has a kid

i don't mind though, he's probably just some boring homophobe you'd meet at walmart

lilac tosses me an apple and grabs herself one, i slip my shoes on and throw my bag over my shoulder, as she does the same

"bye mom" me and her say in sync as we walk out the door and get into my car, i don't actually have my license but i will in a month, if i pass the test.

besides it's not like i'm going to get pulled over, i'm not that shitty of a driver

"what do you think 10th grade will be like?" lilac asks, all of a sudden becoming cheerful

"same as last year, but people will be getting there license's, which means all you'll be hearing is keys jingling in class" i say, starting the car

"come on rosa, be happy for once!" shes says, looking at me

"it's just school is like.. stressful! loads of homework, stupid boys trying to hookup, and shitty teachers, did i mention stupid boys trying to hookup?" i say, glancing at her before focusing my attention on the road

"it's like you're not even interested in men, you've never once told me you had a crush.. well except for river phoenix, but you were like 12"

my response is just a scoff and an eye roll

"are you a lesbian?" she asks

"no, "

"i'm just not interested in dating at the moment, high school boys are gross, they're like annoying dogs" i lied

i'm actually not attracted to men at all, not one bit. it's not like i'm scared to tell her or anything, she's the most supportive girl i've ever met. i'm just not ready to tell anyone yet.

by the end of our conversation we arrived at school. fortunately, we have most of our classes together so i won't be alone most of the day. i've learned alot about making and loosing friends, thanks to my old school, i have an advantage most teenagers don't have.
