I've never been this unsure with a decision. Today was the day I go to see my dad. I haven't seen him since I was 11, and quite honestly I was nervous. My door flung open and my mother appeared in the doorway.

"Start getting ready, you're flight leaves in two hours." She announced and left downstairs. She wasn't very fond of the idea of me wanting to go visit my father, but I needed a vacation. If going to see my dad meant I could leave this boring, uneventful town, then so be it.

I sighed and got out of bed to start my morning routine. After I was finished, I took one last look at my room and made my way downstairs with my bags. I was met with my mom and step dad waiting by the door.

"Jeremy is gonna take you to the airport." She said looking down to the floor. I looked to Jeremy who had a smile on his face.

"Are you ready?" He asked gesturing to take my bags for me. He was always nice to me and I spent more time with him then anyone else in my family. I truly wondered how my mom even snagged a guy like him.

I smiled and slid him my suitcase. "Bye mom, I'll see you later." I quickly rushed out of the house with Jeremy behind.

"Sorry about your mother y/n, she just needs time." Jeremy tried to reassure me.

"And that's all I've ever given her." I added, putting my bags into the truck. I hopped in the passenger seat and Jeremy in the drivers.

"You're right, but hey, try not to think about her this summer. Have fun, I mean it." He started the truck and we were off to the airport.

"Thanks Jeremy." I smiled as we arrived. We got out and unloaded my luggage. He gave me a tight hug and smiled.

"Anytime y/n. Call me if you need anything, and remember what I said." We did our secret handshake and I left to my terminal. Of course I had to go through all the other repercussions, and it wasn't as dreadful as I thought it would be.

Next thing I knew, I was on my way to Outer Banks. Paradise on earth.
