I landed at the airport in Outer Banks and I stared in awe of the small, yet stunning town. I arrived at sunset and I couldn't have been more lucky. I made my way off the plane and to the entrance of the airport. I looked around and saw my dad waiting for me. He spotted me and waved me over.

As I approached him, I caught a lump in my throat. He hugged me and smiled. "You've grown so much." He added.

"Yeah it's been what, ten years?" I mentioned.

He looked down in guilt, but quickly regained his composure. "Let's get you home and settled."

I nodded and we made our way to his car. I was surprised to see BMW. Last I remember of him was that he was always passed out on the couch with a cigarette in his fingers. I was happy for him, but I couldn't shake the feeling that he didn't bother to reach out giving his current state. He put my bags in the trunk and opened the passenger door for me.

"Thanks." I muttered. The interior was equally as nice. He started the car and we drove through town. We soon arrived at a big estate in a gated neighborhood. I was shocked to say the least.

"Welcome to my humble abode." My father said unloading my bags.

"It's nice..." I added still shocked.

"Let me show you to your room." I followed my father to a room upstairs and it was beautiful. Better than the one back home. It pointed out to the ocean and had an open balcony. "I thought you might like this one."

"Yeah it's great. Thanks." I admitted, shifting uncomfortably.

"Well I'll leave you to it." He smiled and left the room. I let out a big breath I didn't even know I had.

I finished unpacking and stood out on the balcony. The breeze felt nice and I closed my eyes as I took deep breaths. Here's to a eventful summer.
