I woke up with a pounding headache, but sat up and rubbed my eyes. I focused on the ocean outside my window and decided to go buy a board and surf today. I got up, got ready, then headed downstairs. I was met with Sarah in the kitchen making a cup of coffee.

"Come here often?" I smirked.

She looked away and smiled to herself, "I guess you could say that. Hey who drove you home?"

"Uh Rafe did." I remembered the brunette boy. My cheeks flustered red and I quickly shook the thoughts away. "Hey do you know any places where I can buy a board?"

"For surfing?"

"Yeah I haven't surfed for a while and the waves look great today."

"Oh yeah there's a shop a few miles away, I can drop you off there if you want?"

"That sounds great, thank you."

"Of course, let me just get my keys." Sarah said making her way to Toppers room. She came back down after a few minutes. "Okay ready?"

"Ready." I smiled and followed her to her car. We hopped in and she drove me to the surf board shop. When we arrived I noticed a familiar looking truck, but I couldn't put my finger on who's it was.

"Looks like Rafe's already here." Sarah said as if she was reading my mind. We got out and made our way in the shop.

"Hey I'm gonna look around." I said to Sarah as soon as I saw Rafe. I went near the back to try and avoid any contact.

"That surf board rides good." A voice said, and I looked down automatically knowing who it was.

"Yeah I bet it would for $1,700." I laughed. The McTavish Tracker has always been my dream board. I ran my hand along it and smiled to myself. I still felt Rafe's presence and felt the need to say something, "You're still here." I turned around and saw he was already looking at me.

"Did you want me to leave?"

"It's fine, I was just leaving anyways."

"You're not gonna get the board?"

"Yeah like I have 1,700 dollars laying around. I'll just see if I can rent one for today, maybe get a summer job to get the board." I walked past him and left the shop to Sarah's car. "Hey Sarah can you take me to where I can rent a surfboard?"

She turned around and had a sorrowful face, "Sorry y/n, Wheezie called and needs me to pick her up from a sleepover. I'm sure Rafe can give you a ride... right Rafe?" Sarah said looking past me. You'll be the death of me Sarah Cameron.

I turned to see Rafe, who was standing at the entrance. "Sure, I have nothing better to do." He walked to his truck and opened the driver seat door. "You coming?"

I ran my hand over my hair and sighed, "I guess so." I fake smiled at Rafe as I went around to the passengers side.

"I'm sure your capable of getting in, or would you like my help?"

"Funny. I think I got it." I said getting in and fastening my seatbelt. Rafe got in and laughed to himself.

"The rentals are in The Cut."

"What's The Cut?"

"The less fortunate side of town." Rafe conveyed.

"Right." I added as he started the engine and started heading toward The Cut. I watched the view outside the window and smiled. Outer Banks truly was paradise on earth.
