A soft knock at my door woke me and I slowly opened my eyes. "Come in." The door opened and my father entered.

"I have a gift for you outside, along with another one, but that one isn't from me." He smiled. "I'll wait for you downstairs." I waited for him to close the door then got out of bed. I dressed quickly and put my hair up. As much as I wasn't a fan of my father at the moment, I was still excited to see the gifts. I went downstairs and saw my father talking with Cynthia.

"Good morning dear! I hope you're excited to see your gifts!" Cynthia smiled and guided us out the front door. I followed and when I reached the view of my gifts, I couldn't help but grow a big smile on my face.

"No way! A jeep? and is that- is that a McTavish Tracker!?" I rushed over to the gifts and ran my hand along them. "These are amazing!" I turned to look at my father, "Thank you, really."

"Of course, y/n. I only got the jeep though, the board was from someone else."

"Who... got the board?"

"Mr. Cameron's boy. Rafe, I think his name was."

I smiled and felt my cheeks burn, "Well, I'll have to make sure I thank him. I'm actually gonna take it for a test ride." I turned to the board, admiring the structure.

"That's probably not the best idea, there's a big storm coming in tonight."

"I'm sure I can be back before it hits."

"Well I can't stop ya, be careful though."

"Always am." I grabbed the keys that laid in the drivers seat and made my way back to my room. I put my bathing suit on and grabbed my wetsuit. I headed back down and secured my board on the roof. I hopped in and started the engine, taking off to the beach in Figure Eight. I figured I'd stay close to home considering the storm.

The sky was a bit gloomy, but I've surfed in worse weather. I got my board out and left my clothes in the car. I ran to the ocean and started paddling out. Bottom turn. Snap. Foam climb. I must've lost track of time and barely noticed the weather getting worse. I wanted to do a last wave so I put my hands on the water and closed my eyes. I waited for the perfect vibrations but when I opened my eyes, a huge wave was already heading toward me. Fuck. I held my breath as it struck me. The water forced me off my board and to the bottom. I swam my way back up but as I reached the top, and another wave toppled over me. I don't remember much after that until I felt someone swimming me to the surface. They pulled me on a jet ski as I coughed for air.

"Thank- thank you." I coughed.

"What are you doing out here!?"

"Wait- my board!" I panicked and jumped back into the water. I swam until I saw it floating a few meters away. I got on top and paddled to the jet ski. Then I noticed it was Rafe. I got on and pulled my board up with me. "Thank you." I said wrapping my free arm around his torso. Rafe scoffed and started driving back to shore. We got off on the sand and I could tell there was something off with him. "I could've made it back on my own. You didn't have to do that."

"It didn't look like it. Why were you even out there?"

"I was surfing. I wanted to use the new board, thank you for that by the way."

"Surfing? with this kind of weather? are you insane?"

"No. I'm not. Thank you for getting me back to shore, I'll get going now." I walked past Rafe and headed back towards my car.

"Wait! Can you give me a ride back to my place? My ride bailed."

I sighed and looked down. "Yeah." I kept walking to my car and Rafe followed behind me. I strapped my board on the top and got in the drivers seat. Rafe got in the passengers and we drove to the Camerons. Once we made it, Rafe got out and started walking to the door. "No thank you?" I called to him.

He laughed and turned around. "Thank you so much y/n, how could I ever repay you?"

"Ha ha. Very funny." I laughed. Then Mr. Cameron came out from the front door.

"Afternoon miss! Thank you for bringing Rafe home."

"Uh yeah, it's no problem." I smiled. "I'll be on my way now..."

"Why don't you stay? The weather isn't looking to good and it's probably not safe to drive."

"Oh no, it's okay. I don't live to far-"

"We would love to have you, I just don't want you to drive in this weather. It's likely to get worse by the second."

"I wouldn't want to intrude, and plus I don't have any clothes I-"

"I'm sure Sarah can lend you some of her's, you two are friends right?"

"Yeah we are, I guess I could stay. I'll just text my dad and let him know."

"Perfect, we have a comfortable guest room that you can stay in as well"

"Thank you Mr. Cameron, I really appreciate it." I smiled, not wanting to show my nervousness. I got out of the car and headed in the house following Rafe and his dad. "Really Mr. Cameron, I don't know how to thank you for your hospitality."

"It's no problem, just looking out for my kid's friends. Rafe would you show her to the guest room downstairs?"

"Yeah." Rafe agreed, leading me downstairs. He opened a door and gestured me in. "Here's the room. Mine is just down the hall if you need anything. Sarah's room is upstairs if you need her."

"Thanks." I lightly smiled. I entered the room and closed the door behind me. I texted Sarah and asked her if she could bring me some clothes. A few minutes later Sarah knocked at the door. I opened it and gestured her in.

"Here are some pajamas and some clothes for tomorrow. I do find it odd that my dad put you in this guest room and not the one upstairs by me." Sarah mentioned putting the clothes on the dresser.

"Wait, theres a guest room upstairs?"

"Yeah, you can stay in there if you want."

"Uh this one's fine actually, thank you by the way... for the clothes."

"It's no problem, I'll see you in the morning then?"

"See ya in the morning." I smiled as Sarah left the room. I looked around for a second before changing into the pajamas. I sat in bed for a while, but I couldn't seem to fall asleep.
