The rest of the week dragged on just as Harriet had thought it would and it was now Friday. Movie night. Casey and Harriet had been having movie night every Friday for as long as they could remember. It was Harriet's job to get the snack and Casey's job to pick the movie as she had impeccable taste in movies. Both girls knew it, too. However, she wouldn't tell Harriet what the movie was until she got to the couch and it started playing. It was fun, Harriet liked the surprise.

Right now, Harriet was riding her bike to the gas station to get the snacks. She turned onto the main road and kept into the side being careful not to get hit by any cars that were driving beside her. She passed a bar and some stores on her way down the wide street and right at the end of the road was the gas station.

She pulled her bike right up next to the gas station door and left it sitting against the wall. She walked in making a beeline for the candy section. She picked up, milk duds, m & m's (which were Casey's favourite), snickers and reese's (her own favourite). Then, she grabbed some cokes from the refrigerator right at the back of the store, some doritos from the chips aisle. At the register was a rather old looking man, who had silver hair and a short beard that was patchy at his cheeks.

She walked over to him and payed for the stuff. Afterwards, she threw everything into the backpack she was wearing and exited the small store. She threw her leg over her bike checking her watch before she set off down the road. It was only 8:30pm, she had 30 minutes to get home before movie night started. Maybe, she would have time to bake cookies before movie night started.

She flew down the main road as she peddled to get home as fast as possible. It was usually a ten minute ride home but if she went fast enough she could make it 5 and have 25 minutes to get home before Casey would arrive for movie night. Casey was usually on a run at this time and sometimes she would stop off at Sharice's for a while so that they both met in the living room at 9:00 for the start of the movie.

She made a right turn onto her and the Gardners' street and pulled into the driveway, putting her bike back into the garage. She had made it home in just over 5 minutes so she had time to make Elsa's famous recipe. They was never as good as when Elsa made them but Casey liked to say they were to spite her mother.

"I was made for lovin' you, baby. You were made for lovin' me." Harriet sang along to the radio as she mixed the cookie dough. That was her favourite song and she loved kiss. She had put all the snacks into bowls and she was almost done making the cookies. She started scooping all the dough into balls on a tray to make the cookies. Still dancing to the music, she put the tray in the oven. Sam was still at work, so was Doug and Elsa and Casey were both out so she had the house to herself, which was strange because she wasn't really part of the family. Although, she had started to feel like one over the past year living with them.

Whilst she waited for the cookies to come out of the oven, Casey walked into the house, seeing Harriet dancing, she smiled as she watched her. Harriet noticed her and ran over to her, grabbing her hands and swaying her to the tune of the music. Casey smile only grew wider as she danced with her best friend, spinning her round and holding her freckled hands.

Harriet pulled Casey closer whilst dancing and interlocking one of her hands with Casey's and putting her other hand on her shoulder, swaying side to side with huge grins on both of their faces. Then, a beeping from the oven stopped their fun. Harriet sighed dramatically and Casey laughed.

Harriet went to turn off the radio and get the cookies out of the oven and Casey sat on the couch, not bothering to change out of her running clothes she knew Harriet wouldn't mind because she did it every week. Casey took a handful of m & m's and Harriet sat down next to her. "So, Brown, what movie did you pick?"
