The next few days dragged on after the dinner party. Nothing eventful happened, mostly just Casey and Harriet spending long hours study in Casey's room and sometimes falling asleep laying together in piles of unfinished homework. They had been spending all this time studying so that they could get their grades up in order to go to Clayton.

This particular afternoon Evan had decided to come over to give the girls some company, so Harriet was back to being the third wheel. She figured she should either get used to this or try to avoid them as much as possible when they were together. In the end, she decided on a mixture of the two.

The trio were sitting in silence, Harriet was reading over her notes on Macbeth and Casey was doing her history homework, and Evan, who was getting more bored as the seconds ticked away, blew lightly on Casey's hair playfully.

"You nervous about tomorrow?" He asked. Tomorrow they had a meeting at Clayton and it was fair to say that Harriet was in fact nervous. She had even taken the liberty of writing down a list of things to talk about at the meeting.

She didn't answer his question, which in all fairness was directed to Casey anyway.

"No." Casey replied, sounding rather defensive.

"Oh, you're like freaking out." Evan smiled.

"Kind of." Casey admitted, sheepishly. She wasn't very good at talking about her feelings.

"Well, hey. Just remember that they recruited you. So, you know just keep your pants on and don't curse so much it'll be fine."

"I have to keep my pants on at the interview? Really?"

"Yeah, call me old-fashioned." Right at that moment Harriet got a text from Fred, she and him had been hanging out a lot recently and Casey seemed suspicious, which surprised Harriet because she thought she would be too caught up in Evan to notice. The text read, 'Hi, wanna go to the park and get those ice creams?' They had found this really good ice cream shop just outside a park in the small town and they often hung out there. 'Ye sure see you in 5 :)' she replied.

"I gotta go, see you guys." Harriet said, standing up.

"Where are you going?" Casey asked.

"Out. Mom." Harriet teased.

"Shut up." Casey laughed. "Have fun and keep your pants on."

Evan laughed and so did Harriet. Then, she walked down the stairs and out the door. When she got outside it was quite chilly so she walked pretty fast to meet Fred. After Harriet had told Fred about the whole gay thing, she realized that they actually get along really well. Now that there was no romantic connotations it wasn't awkward and they could have a normal conversation and were becoming pretty good friends.

It took Harriet 8 minutes to get to the park and when she got there Fred was already waiting at a bench holding two vanilla ice creams. She smiled and took her place on the bench next to him.

"Hello, Miss. Steale." He laugh and Harriet took her ice cream from his hand.

"Hi." She said, eating the ice cream.

"I didn't think you would've taken so long or else I would've waited to get the ice cream and it wouldn't have melted."

"It's fine, don't worry."

They went sat and talked on the bench for a while and then went over to the lake and walked around a couple of times, talking and laughing. Harriet was starting to get comfortable around Fred and it felt like they had been friends their whole lives.

Harriet and Fred spend the rest of the day at the park doing whatever they felt like and having a good laugh, they had even gotten themselves 3 more ice creams throughout the course of the day and when Harriet got home it was dark.

She had almost completely forgotten about the interview the next day, but Casey clearly had not as when Harriet arrived home Casey was running around like a mad woman trying to find something that was 'very important for the interview' which Harriet seriously doubted.

As soon as she walked in the door, Casey walked over to her and said, "Oh my God, Harriet. Thank God you're home." Whilst engulfing the girl in a hug.

"Why, what the fuck is going on?" Harriet asked, hugging her back.

"We have the interview tomorrow, remember? Elsa is driving me crazy she's making me write a mini-script." She said, walking over to the couch, her friend following closely behind.

"Why?" Harriet laughed and sat next to Casey on the couch.

"I don't know but I need a break." She laid her head on Harriet's shoulder and Harriet rested her head on top of Casey's.

They both stayed quiet for a few moments and out of nowhere Casey said, "I wish I could stay here with you forever."

Harriet couldn't handle this. Not at all. Her stomach exploded with butterflies. Part of her wanted to grab Casey's face and kiss her right there. However, she didn't do that. Instead, she did something that she also would never have done at any other time. She kissed Casey's head.

And that was that.
