~Islas' POV~

I woke up today having a really bad feeling, however I knew that there was nothing I could do about it till I got up. I sighed getting off my cot, grabbing my black outfit, sword, and daggers, setting them on my cot and starting my hair. I separated my bright red hair down the middle before tying the sides at the base of my neck in two messy buns. I sighed figuring that this is as good as it's going to get before I decided to just get dressed, I pulled on my tight black pants, and my white long sleeve puffy shirt. I tied my corset before pulling on my belt, and coat, I grabbed my sheaths for my daggers strapping them to my ankles before pulling on my boots. I slipped the daggers in place, before grabbing my sheath strapping it to my waist before putting it in place, I grabbed my hat putting it on before walking onto the deck.

The men turned to me with wide eyes and I walked up to the helm, Silas looked at me with wide awe struck eyes, before a smirk came to his face and I shook my head knowing that he had something to say

"I have a feeling you look better as a Pirate than a Princess."

I laughed, shaking my head as I looked at him, he was in his usual attire, the only difference was his sword and sheath strapped to his waist.

"I have a feeling you'd look better as a Prince then a Pirate, but we'll never know now will we?"

He chuckled, shaking his head.

"No, we'll definitely never know that."

I laughed as he looked at me with a small smile on his face before stepping aside letting me take the helm while he stood next to me.

"I know you're new to all of this, but I've never had a first mate, what do you say?"

He held his hand out and I smiled nodding my head.

"Of course, yes, I would love to be first mate."

I took his hand and we shook on it, I smiled as he told me to turn, however it was then that I saw one of the new kids get hit by one of the men and fall into the water. I threw off my hat running to the side jumping over the side diving into the water, I quickly grabbed him keeping his head above the water. I saw a rope come over the side of the ship and swam to it, however I felt something swim next to me. I froze before turning to see a dorsal fin coming straight for us, I swam as fast as I could grabbing the rope. As they pulled me up getting us out of the water I pulled my sword swiping at the shark, I watched blood fill the water knowing the shark was gone. I sighed, sheathing my sword and handing the kid to the men, I pulled myself onto the deck, letting my body rest on the cool wood as I lay there coughing up water. I looked up before shaking my head, I looked at the kid and he gave me a small smile, Silas came over helping me up, as I looked back at the kid and all I wanted to do was yell.

"What happened?"

The kid looked down embarrassed, I looked at the man who hit him.

"You..."

He looked at me not really impressed, however that's not what I was worried about.

"Why'd you hit him?"

He shrugged scoffing at me.

"Felt like it."

Silas stepped forward.

"She's first mate, I suggest you answer her."

"He made a comment about how stupid Pirates can be."

I shook my head looking at the kid.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed?"

"No Ma'am."

"Then from now on keep your mouth shut, and do your job, understood?"

He nodded his head and I sighed, shaking mine.

"Now let's just hope they don't skin you in your sleep."

His eyes went wide and I took my hair out of it's buns before removing my boots, getting the water out and setting them next to the cabin door. I grabbed my hat, putting it on going back to the helm, I looked back seeing a ship and knew that this could mean trouble. I sighed looking at Silas getting his attention, I gave a swift nod behind us, he shook his head looking at me.

"Don't worry, Pirate, or Royal navy, I'll keep you safe."

"Silas, if it's Royal, they'll label me a traitor and take me back, they'll either force me to marry, or hang me."

He shook his head.

"I won't let that happen, you're part of my crew, that makes you family, we look after, and protect our family."

I gave him a small smile and knew that I was in trouble, if not from what's coming, then from the feelings I'm gaining for my Captain. The rest of the night was uneventful, Silas took me to a part of the ship's hull that is basically a small secret cabin. It had a small cot connected to the wall, and a two drawer dresser at the foot of it, I sighed knowing I had no choice but to stay hidden. He told me that until the tailing ship either passes or attacks this is where I'll be staying so he can keep me safe. I smiled before pulling him into a small hug before letting him go, he closed the hatch and I laid down letting sleep take me hoping that in the end everything will be alright. That at the end of the day I'll be able to return to my life as first mate, and return to the one true love I've ever really had, my love of the sea.
