[Y/n POV]
"I'll start by asking a few questions." Albedo said, fiddling with the substances he brought with him. They were currently at the base camp, since Albedo didn't want to go too far away from his workshop.
Albedo had set up the few equipments he brought with him on a nearby bench. At a distance, Y/n could see a small group of people. A light fire also seemed to be burning, but Albedo preferred to be away from them.
"Is there any physical difference that you feel from a normal human?" He asked.
"I... er..." Y/n thought about it for a moment. "I can function on minimal sleep."
He looked at them. "How much would that be?"
"Around... two to three hours?"
"Hm." He looked away, deep in thought. "That won't work."
Y/n sighed. "I'm sorry..."
"It's alright." He pulled out a wooden stick and cleaned it with a napkin. "Alchemy goes hand in hand with biology and alchemists specialise in the creation and evolution of life.
"But when I observe you, I don't find you any different from a normal human." He dripped some liquid on the tip of it and brought it close to Y/n's mouth. "Can you taste this?"
Y/n opened their mouth and was instantly greeted with a bitter-cold sensation.
"Blehh!!" They pulled it out instantly. "What is that?!"
"Qingxin and mint." Albedo pulled out another container. "The mix has an intense bitterness, but it has high medicinal properties."
"Well, that's going to be my least favorite flavor!" Y/n was still trying to relieve their tongue from it.
"Really? Then that means this one's more bearable?" He placed the stick back into Y/n's mouth, filling their mouth with spice.
"Ahh!!" Y/n coughed and glared at Albedo.
"Jueyun chilli." He chuckled. "Which one do you prefer?"
"Why??" Tears filled Y/n's eyes as they removed the stick, their tongue throbbing from the heat.
Albedo poured a third substance on the stick and handed it to Y/n. "This will be the final one."
"No," Y/n shook their head. "I bet this one will be horrible as well."
"It's not." He seemed serious, so Y/n complied. This time the taste was like sweet honey. It soothed the torture that Y/n's tongue had been through.
"Mm.. This one's good." They happily held onto it this time, flowers popping around them.
"Your tastebuds seem fine. I wonder if it's worth checking your other senses." Albedo sighed and observed Y/n, who was getting uncomfortable with the way his eyes always seemed to dig deep into their soul.
But they had to bear through this. This was their task given by Scaramouche. Once this was over, they'd have proven themself useful as his satellite.
Wait... But I don't feel happy as his satellite?!
Y/n brushed away the thought in frustration. It wasn't as if they actually enjoyed being around him, right?
