A/n: As everyone knows, 2.1 is out, and Scaramouche makes an appearance in the Inazuma Archon Quest, and a lot was added to his backstory.

By now I had only been relying on the meteorite event and theories to imagine Scara's personality (so did everyone else tbh-).

But now that I've gone through it all, I'm going to write the future chapters with the quest in mind, and everything that happened in canon will run parallel to the fanfic's story.

As such, here's a small warning.

THIS CHAPTER (AND BEYOND) WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE 2.1 ARCHON QUEST.

So yeah. Proceed with caution.

P.S. This is simply my interpretation of how things went down behind the scenes, so please be forgiving while reading. ^^"

Thank you.

[Scaramouche POV]

"I was under the impression that your mission concerned a different region, Scar." Signora commented. Scaramouche hated when she called him that.

He narrowed his eyes. Was she questioning his motives?

"Don't worry. I have no intention of meddling in your plans."

Currently on the ship that would take them to Inazuma, Signora and Scaramouche were leaning on the rails of the ship, waiting for the thunderstorms to arrive.

She laughed. "That's not what I meant, and the gnosis hunt is important enough that it indirectly becomes a concern for all of us."

"I get it." He sighed and closed his eyes. Signora loved to flaunt the fact that she was the head of the hunt.

"But the most I'll do is help you from the sidelines. We all know what happened with Childe last time."

"Ah." Signora laughed. "The poor boy. Ended up summoning an ancient God in his rage."

A smirk formed on Scaramouche's face thinking about it. Childe had made quite a fool of himself back then.

At least the Tsaritsa found it hilarious.

"He is a harbinger." Signora chuckled. "Still learning, but a harbinger nonetheless."

Scaramouche looked out at the ocean. He couldn't remember the last time he set foot on the land of Inazuma.

But maybe it was for the best that he didn't. Inazuma had become a closed nation under the Sakoku Decree.

The Raiden Shogun had taken some... questionable decisions within the past year or so, and Inazuma became subject to the Vision Hunt.

Scaramouche didn't pay it much mind. The only thing he felt for the Shogun and her broken ideals was pity.

Here she was, guiding her nation to ruin and calling it eternity.
