[Y/n POV]
"You may empty the ore in the sack over there." Katheryne instructed Y/n once they got back to Mondstadt. After transferring the ore, Y/n breathed a sigh of relief. That was enough of today's commissions.
"Here's your reward." Katheryne gave Y/n a pouch of mora.
"Thanks... " Y/n took the pouch and proceeded to head towards Mona's.
The astrologist was in the middle of writing. Y/n entered and slammed the door behind them, making her jump. She turned around in her chair to face them. "Could you be a little more gentle while entering?"
"Can't help it. I'm tired." Y/n put their tongue out. As they entered 'their' room, they could hear her sigh.
Y/n removed their bag and examined its inside. Starsilver powder had settled at the bottom, which was gonna be a pain to clean. And Y/n was in no mood to tidy their bag right now.
They further searched inside until they caught hold of the broken piece they found before. It didn't seem to be serving any purpose in Dragonspine, and had perked Y/n's curiosity, so they decided to bring it back with them.
Except now that they gave it a proper look, there was something familiar about it.
Wait a minute...
Y/n opened a small cupboard and dug through their belongings. The memory of their 'first' day in Mondstadt was hazy, but they remembered finding a pin-shaped object in their coat back then.
Y/n had never thought much of it. Heck, they didn't even know if it was still there after Lisa washed it. But Lisa wasn't the kind of person to just toss things away, though, so the piece should've been there.
Y/n eventually found the packet, the stained and torn coat peeking through the opening. The fade flashbacks that were associated with it had long been forgotten by them.
They picked on the inside of the package and felt around it until they found what was supposedly the other half of the 'treasure'.
As expected of Miss Lisa. She's always careful of even the most trivial things.
Y/n stared down at the two pieces in their hands, looking exactly like the front and the back of an object. In the midst of building a life in Mondstadt, Y/n had stopped wondering about the past altogether. But if they had to, they could make a pretty good guess of what these two pieces would combine to become.
For whatever reason it was, their heart had been going incredibly fast. Maybe it was the silence or the suspense of what would happen once they did connect the pieces.
What am I feeling so nervous for? It's already been a whole month and nothing's happened.Steadily holding their breath, Y/n slowly brought the two parts closer, until they alligned together and joined with a satisfying click.
