JJ texted as much as he could over the last few days leading up to the 23rd. He had an incredibly tight schedule; at least one gig per night but he texted me when he could; he wondered how I was and made sure I was ok. I was still pinching myself, still in shock about everything.
My Mum had'nt made contact with me since our argument, which was strange because we usually made up quickly after a row. The confusion and disbelief still roamed my mind and the same question flashed in my head; how did she know him?
But those few days of dwelling on it quickly passed and the morning of the 23rd rapidly arrived.
*JJ's POV*
Eva's mum had'nt made contact with me in a week, which was weird because she normally texted me to make sure I'd steer clear of her daughter. The anger and sadness still roamed my mind and the same question flashed in my head; will she remember me?
But those few days of dwelling on it quickly passed and the morning of the 23rd rapidly arrived.
*Eva's POV*
11:30am came quickly on that Winter's morning. The Winter still over shadowed Gloucester but it was the warmest it had been in a long while. The Sun shone brightly in the sky, the birds at full song now that everyone was awake. I answered the door as a familar figure knocked politely.
'I'm back!' he laughed. He opens his arms and I skip into them, hugging him tightly.
'Did you miss me?' he smiles as he pulls away.
'JJ, we've only met twice!' We both burst into laughter; I close the door behind me and we walk down the path, out from the gate and climb into JJ's warm car.
*JJ's POV*
'Did you miss me?' I ask her with a smile.
'JJ, we've only met twice!' she replys.
I laugh along with her, but what she had just said killed me inside. I felt like falling to my knees, begging for her memory to return. But I knew it was'nt that easy, I had to be brave, not only for me but for her.
*Eva's POV*
Leaving the warmth of JJ's car and into the cold air, we began to walk into the city centre. He warned me about fans and I agreed to keep my head down.
The day went quickly, too quickly. We visited many different shops together, the city centre bustling with excitement and nerves as people were desperate to collect their last few gifts. JJ bought quite a few more presents for his family and so did I.
We sat down at a Costa in the shopping mall, the crowds of people beginning to die down.
'Hey, George loves this shop!' I laugh, remembering his obsession with coffee; JJ rolls his eyes.
'He does! Maybe you could meet them all soon, we could get the train to London or something?' I choked on my coffee as he revealed this; the chance to meet the rest of Union J? I didn't hesitate.
'Yes!' I stutter, coughing from choking. 'Yes, I'd love too!'
He chuckles, shaking his head.
'Eva, do you want to-'
Before he could finish his sentence, a group of men walk into the shop. I did'nt see what they were holding at first but when the flashes came and almost blinded me, I began to realise they were holding cameras. I hid my face behind my hands as JJ had told me to earlier and the men quickly left; mumbling to themselves over who got 'the best shot of the new hot couple.'
I hear JJ curse under his breath before I felt his warm hands on mine. He pulled my hands away and smiled sadly.
'I'm so sorry about that, bloody paparazzi..' He looked down at the table as if he'd let me down; he looked so cute!
I smiled at him reasurringly, squeezing his hand as it still held onto mine.
'It's getting dark, shall we get all of this shopping home?' he changed the subject.
Nodding, we gathered our bags and began to walk from the shopping centre back to the car.
'Look, I..I was just wondering..did you go to the horse races last Winter? Even after the accident?I was going to ask you in the coffee store..' JJ asked suddenly as we drove home.
'Yes, I was just careful at the track, but it was fine..why?'
He did'nt make eye contact as he turned the corner towards my house.
'Well would you like to go with me this year? It's on Boxing day!'
I did'nt hesitate; the accident was in the past now, it would be fine.
'I'd love to, can you text me the details?' I asked as he stopped the car, allowing me to get my bags from the boot. A bright smile appeared across his face.
'Of course I will, and thanks for today!' He hands me my bags from the car and wraps his arms around me; his body still warm even in this cold weather. I felt him smile against my neck; as he pulled away, his sparkling hazel brown eyes gazed into mine for a second too long. He knew it too, and quickly changed the subject by saying our goodbyes. With that, he climbed back into his car and drove away.
I re-entered my house; throwing the bags on the floor I ran up the stairs into my room. I was looking forward to going to the races, even after the accident two years ago. The more time I spent with JJ, the more I began to like him and the easier I could talk to him; and once again the feeling that he knew me was there. My mum still had'nt made any effort to get in contact with me but I didnt care. But that same question flashed through my mind like the paparazzi's camera flashes in the coffee shop, which would soon come back you haunt me; how did she know him?
*JJ's POV*
'This was it' I thought as I drove the few minutes from Eva's house home. Surely at the races she would remember me, remember us, remember everything. We'd go back to normal, and everything would be fine. Her mum was the worry, but I would'nt let that affect me, affect us. She did'nt know it yet but she soon would again; I loved Eva, I loved her.
*Eva's POV*
A text flashed across my phone. I quickly unlocked it; it read:
'Thanks for today..if your not busy in the evening on Christmas day, I could drop around your present around? JJ x'
He had got me a present; it was lucky I had got him one too! I texted him back.
'Hey! You're welcome, thank you too! and I'm not busy, pop around at about 6pm! Have a good Christmas day though! Eva x'
As I sent the text, I realised I was beginning to fall for him. Whatever my Mum's reason was for not wanting me to see him, I was'nt going to let it destroy my feelings for him; I was'nt going to let the boy from the stables slip through my fingers.
*JJ's POV*
As she replied with a yes to my text, I smiled to myself. Whatever her Mum's reason was for not wanting me to see Eva, I was'nt going to let it destroy my feelings for her; I was'nt going let the girl from the stables slip through my fingers...again.
THIS TOOK ME TOO LONG. Sorry if its overly long but the chapters get really exciting from here on, I'm so excited to write more! Tweet me feedback @Imagine_UJ ! Thank you! x
