The next few days running up to New Years Eve were mad. JJ rapidly got better and the bruising on his head decreased. He is incredibly lucky that the horse only inflicted bruising and nothing else. Josh and JJ's family had visited; even my own dad had visited. I explained everything to my dad, and he fully understood; he was relieved to see me happy for a change. Although she had obviously seen on the news and in the papers about JJ's accident, my mum had still made no contact with me. It was for the best really; considering all the lies she had fed my mind.
New Year's Eve finally came around and I had been at the hospital everyday since JJ's accident. Josh had to leave the day before to get back to his family but he promised he'd be back to visit JJ and I soon. JJ was incredibly eager to leave the hospital. Apart from a part of his hair shaven from where he had his surgery, he looked normal. The paleness had ceased from his skin; its olive-brown shine quickly returning. Although he had some bruising along his leg which caused him to limp slightly, he could move about normally and do things for himself. His speech hadn't changed due to the head injury and he often interrogated me with questions; trying to trigger even more memorys in my mind.
'When will I be able to go!' he sighs; sitting up in his bed.
'I've only been here five and a half days but I'm already sick of it. I miss the cold Winter's air; the bitter mornings at the stables. I miss the smell of toast in the mornings or a fried breakfast cooked by my mum. I miss the warmth and safety of my own bed. Eva, I want to go home.' he admits; rubbing the bruise on his leg. I look up at the clock; 10:24am, on the morning of New Year's Eve.
'Soon.' I smile; leaning in to kiss his forehead.
It's weird really. Since JJ explained everything to me when he regained consciousness after his accident, we had forgotten about, well, everything really. We had forgotten that I had ever had an accident myself and had had my mind totally wiped as a result of it. Well, we had'nt forgotten; we'd just chose to ignore it; but in a good way. I wanted my old life back, with JJ; and finally that normality was being restored.
'JJ Hamblett and Eva Tomlinson?' A deep voice asked from near the door to the room.
'Yes! Hello!' JJ answers cheerfully; hoping his positive attitude would play a part in getting discharged from hospital.
'Hello JJ, I am one of the head neurological doctors here in the hospital.' The doctor introduces himself; walking in through the door.
'I have assessed your injury and condition; and given the circumstances that it is New Year's Eve today, I have decided to discharge you from hospital early due to your speedy recovery.'
I look over at JJ. He smile back at me; happiness filling up in his eyes.
'Here is just a simple guideline I have written of what to do and not to do, and I have prescribed some pain killing medication.' The doctor hands JJ the prescription and guideline.
'Other than that, I am very pleased with your recovery and thank you for being such a cooperative patient.' The doctor reaches out a hand to JJ and shakes it warmly; a smile on his face.
'Thank you, thank you so much Doctor!' he exclaims; surprised at the doctor's revelation. The doctor smiles before exiting the room; rushing back down the ward. I look at JJ in shock; his jaw dropping slightly.
'Well, that was easy!' he laughs. I get up from my chair to help JJ as he gets up from his hospital bed before he begins to remove his hospital robes and gets dressed into the clothes I bought him in the other day.
'Eva, did you pack a-' He begins to speak, but I press my finger to his lips; instead wrapping my arms around his shoulders and hugging him warmly. His own hands find their way to my waist; pulling me closer to his body.
'I love you.' he whispers in my ear; the warmth of his words dancing through my body. I pull away; staring into his hazel eyes.
'I love you too.' I smile; pecking his lips softly. He giggles shyly, before putting on his jeans.
'What I was going to say was, did you pack a beanie hat? I need to cover up this bald spot!' I laugh with him; pulling out a beanie from his bag and throwing it at him.
'Hurry up, I want to get you home!'
The nurses clap as we exit the hospital room not long after; JJ limping down the ward as the staff attempt to get a glimpse of the boy from Union J. We smile back at them; thanking them for all of their hard work over the last few days.
After taking the elevator down a few floors to reach the reception of the hospital, we walk towards the main doors; JJ still limping. As we get closer and closer to the door, we begin to realise that exiting through the main entrance wouldn't be the best idea. Screaming fans pushed up against the glass; trying to get a glimpse of JJ. The doors had been barred from hospital staff; stopping them from entering the hospital. They had obviously found out where JJ was staying.
A woman approaches us as we stand helplessly in the middle of reception; I think she was a cleaner or a member of staff.
'I can get you out of the hospital another way, just follow me.' she smiles; and we follow her out through the fire exit right at the back of the reception; leading us to the back of the hospital building.
'Just down there.' she points down the allyway leading to the car park.
'A taxi is waiting for you both, but be quick.' she smiles warmly again. We thank her before she re-enters the hospital; closing the fire exit behind her. I adjust my grip on JJ's bag before we begin to sneak quietly down the allyway towards the car park.
The girls are still pressed against the doors; trying to see where JJ was. There must of been at least 100 girls there. Carefully, we tip-toed across the car park towards the taxi which was parked away from the hospital entrance. Opening the car door carefully, I fling JJ's bag into the taxi; allowing him to get in himself whilst I ran around the other side and climbed in.
We slump back into our seats; thankful to finally be leaving the hospital which had burdened our lives in the past week. I push JJ's bag onto the floor of the taxi as the driver drives from the car park. JJ's hand moves towards my own; he links his finger with mine, holding my hand tightly. This was just the beginning of our lifes again, and I couldn't be happier. Who would of thought it; the boy from the stables who was the missing puzzle piece to my life, was JJ Hamblett.
I KNOW THIS WAS A SHORT CHAPTER BUT IT WAS WRITTEN TO EXPLAIN HOW JJ AND EVA LEFT THE HOSPITAL. I WILL UPDATE AGAIN TONIGHT TOO! :D FOLLOW ME ON TWITTER: @ImagineUJ! :D
