The door closed with a slam, making me jump away from the sound.

He let out an amused chuckle at the sight and sighed softly, “You're as jumpy as always.”

He hummed a bit as he leaned his head back again, and motioned to the space in front of him, “Come. Come sit and talk with me for a while.”

I watched him from across the room, staying by the door. It didn't feel right to be here, seeing one without the other. Looking back at the door, I considered going back to what was now my only safe space, “He wouldn't want me talking to you…”

He hummed once again, closing his eyes, “Then dont talk. Just listen to me, it's the least you could do for me.”

Chewing on my lip, the itch started to creep up my arm, “I… I should really go.”

“Kachaan.”

His tone was stern, making my body tense. I looked at him, meeting eyes with his once again.

“I told you: come sit.”

My feet moved on their own, taking me towards him. Isucked in a small breath before sitting a few feet away from him, wanting to stay out of his reach.

He smiled and hummed his approval, the sound easing some of the tension, "Relax, alright? I promise I won't hit you.” He put his left hand over his heart as he raised his right, “Honest. Have I ever broken a promise?”

No, he hasn't. He always followed through with his promises. They were an important thing to him. He wouldn't stop keeping them now.

Nodding slowly, I allowed myself to scoot closer; keeping my eyes on the floor, “You… You wanted to see me?”

He nodded as he continued to smile, “Mhm! I wanted to apologise for throwing you off the balcony.”

I bit my lip and gripped my wrist to keep from scratching at it. His apologies were not uncommon, but it was still a surprise to hear them, “Oh… It's okay-”

“I should have finished the job.”

His words hit so suddenly, making me tense.

He sighed softly before continuing, “Kachaan, Todoroki is a bad, bad man. I should have tried harder to free you from him.”

Tilting my head at his words, I found myself as lost as I usually am, “Free, me…?”

“He's crazy. I know what I said before, but I was wrong.”

He sounded almost desperate, talking softly as he leaned closer. I didn't want to believe him, I really didn't. There was something about his eyes that made it seem some-what truthful. They seemed empty, almost. It was hard to tell.

Taking a breath I leaned in a bit closer as well, “Whatever he's done to you, you deserve it.”

“Kachaan..” His expression hardened a bit, “He raped me.”

My breath caught in my throat at his words. It couldn’t be true. I know this. But, could he really lie about something like this?

Turning my head away, my voice came out smaller than I meant it to, “What do you mean…?”

He leaned his head back against the stone wall as he sighed, “Every day since you put me in here.”

“That... That's a lie.” The information settled, putting a pit in my stomach and making me uneasy, “Even if that is true, I'm not responsible for any of this.”
